Obama Administration to Cheney: Request Denied

You really ought to lay off the Kool-Aid....the VAST majority of Americans are against torture under any circumstances, and Dick Cheney's popularity rating is almost as low as yours. Did you not hear the professional interrogator say that detainees talked UNTIL they were tortured and then clammed up? Bring on Cheney's memo's, I can't wait to see them, and hear your revised excuse once they are proved worthless.
That doesn't make a damn bit of sense. If they were talking there wouldn't be a need for torture. Looks to me that either you or that interrogator are torturing the facts.

Agreed! After seeing how bad the CIA can screw up documenting documents, I'm sure they too are in CYA mode.
Hehehe, that's actually kind of funny. Good one.

LOL ..wonder why Cheney waited until he was out of power? He could've released these memos last year.

Just why the hell would Cheney do that? The Bush adm. never wanted to tell the terrorists what we were doing to break their guys. That's what makes this the Obama scandal and no one else is reponsible.

This free show of Cheney running around with his head about to explode is priceless! He absolutely can't stand the fact that he doesn't run the country anymore. He hates the fact that he can't bully the CIA to write up misleading and false reports anymore. Hell, he can't even get a couple documents declassified, if in fact he really wants to. He is drowning in his powerlessness.

Where's the popcorn?

In all honesty, I have to wonder if Dear Leader isn't simply trying to stuff the genie back in the bottle. This fiasco is already threatening his mistress in Congress, and the Anti-Republicans are not scoring even PR points with this mess. All this brouhaha has accomplished is put a spotlight on the fact that Dear Leader ordered the closing of Gitmo without a solid plan for the detainees and was hoping to just sneak them into federal prisons around the US.

This entire torture debate has been a total disaster for the Anti-Republicans, and it would not surprise me at all if Dear Leader simply doesn't want to just wish it all away.

Just wondering, does constantly using derogatory epithets make your arguments look weak or your mind? Once in a while is one thing, although I do remember a time when saying Shrub or Bushy or something was grounds for a 3 point ding... I guess the con mods decided to make change happen here too...

I still have no idea what Cheney wishes to gain from this.

If he wants to pick a fight with the Obama administration then be my guest., but he better be sure to drop that G.O.P status, as I think it will do nothing but further tarnish Republicans. Cheney does not have the best record to begin with.

It is clear to anyone who is not a raving Liberal partisan; Cheney and the Bush administration are being impugned in the court of public opinion by Liberal Democrats selectively releasing formerly secret memos and ranting about illegal torture while refusing to release memos that would vindicate the enhanced interrogation methods used on a select few terrorists which probably saved lives and led to the capture of other terrorist leaders.

Why is that so hard to follow?

The genie in the bottle has already been let out by this selective transparency we see from the Democrats; why is it now to be contained when good people have had their reputations dragged through the mud?

I am always amused how the same people who spent 8 years falsely accusing the Bush Administration of incompetence and criminal behavior now so desperately defend the asinine level of stupidity we are now seeing from the Democrats.

Are you for or against investigations into the torture/EIT issue? Personally, I want to see the memos Cheney wants to be released, and any others pertinent to the issue. Without full disclosure there will always be accusations that one side or the other is selectively releasing information.

I am always amused seeing such selective outrage on this forum.

I suggest you click on ADK's profile and read any of the many threads where he constantly uses offensive and derogatory "epithets" against the previous administration and anyone who has the audacity to disagree with his wild-eyed views and his hysteric driven emotional tirades; I have yet to see you whine about his patently uninformed and asinine assertions.

I mean, your hypocrisy is OBVIOUS, but I am just curious if you even get it?

You have to ask me this? I think that the release of these memos and these farcical hyper partisan witch hunts are offensive and childlike by attempting to impugn the previous administration for nothing more than not agreeing with them politically.

I find it equally fantastical how anyone can believe that such selective partisan releases of formerly secret information for hyper partisan purposes can make this nation better or safer.

We don't need FULL disclosure of ANYTHING. The previous administration legally determined it would use these methods, it briefed the correct Senate oversight committees and it selectively used these methods while ensuring they would not physically harm these terrorist thugs in a serious way in an effort to obtain critical information that could save lives when other methods apparently did not work.

This isn't hard to figure out. Recent events suggest that what we are witnessing from Obama is the sudden cold hard reality of the FACTS and his sudden retreat from his previous naive notions and farcical partisan rhetoric.

The next REALIZATION which you will see sometime later this year is the retreat of the Obama Administration from its previous stated desire to close Gitmo.

As my signature suggests; nothing can frighten Obama more than REALITY.

Since some have been released, don't we now need all the information to prevent things from being partisan?

With blacked out sections of the papers that Obama released, he is either dumb as a box of rocks, or he wanted to start something to take the heat off of his spending policies. The way Obama has dissed the former administration, it is no wonder that Cheney stepped in and said "wait a minute". Obama has to show those blacked out sections, or his numbers will keep slipping.

Partially, but it won't stop the partisanship. It will be a highly debated issue for several decades, if not longer.

Probably true, but I am of the belief that the debate is healthy.

It's what historians are destined to argue about: the effectiveness of certain policies.
