The Left needs a big dose of reality..even if it makes them sick.

Oh but that would undermine al Qaeda. Wouldn't want to do that. How would the "world" feel about..oh my..
    Amen to this!

The president's decision is the right one, even though it detracts from the movement to bring the torture planners to justice. He realizes this cleansing must be done dispassionately and with respect for the judicial process. Releasing the pictures would bring out the angry mobs with pitchforks and torches, but that would not be honorable, and it is not necessary. What IS necessary is that those who commanded torture and those who rewrote the law to excuse it be brought to justice. This was a violation of the oath of office, it damaged the Constitution, as well as America's reputation. History demands an accounting.

Do you think the public opinion is really going to impact the investigators findings?
That's not the point. We know abuses happened... why does it need to be sensationalized with the release of photos? I think Obama's "security" justification is not enough. That's always the word the authority uses when they simply don't want to do something. There are other reasons.

Unless it's an independent pannel, every member of the inquiry will be an elected official who is answerable to his/her constituents. If there is a media storm over photos, you can bet those members' objectivity will be a little be on the way side.

So let's make it worse by releasing photos that damage relations? That's just what America's allies need to see... photos of their citizens being held indefinitely and being subjected to harsh and humiliating interrogation techniques, broadcasted on American television for everyone's entertainment. How classless.

If Obama is really trying to repair world relations, then releasing those photos will set his campaign back.

Sometimes not doing anything is the best move. Unfortunately Obama has made plenty of moves so far.
    Thank you

    HISTORY????????

History doesn't demand a damn thing from anybody. It's over, done with, past tense.

    That's why it's called history.

The foolishness of the Madame Defarge's of the Anti-Republicans knows no limits.

Dare one hope that at long last Obama is beginning to learn the art of pragmatism?

    OBAMA TRIAL BALLOON FAIL.

Even though photos have not been released, damage has been done by the insinuation misdeeds took place, by floating the balloon about photo's, and then retracting them as they would harm the nation if they were released.

This Obama Administration... Idiotsville... 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue... is one big wrecking crew.

While he is remaking the country in his image... he should reconsider renaming the White House too.
The following is apropos for the ObaMarx Administration:

The new Amerikan Limo is parked out front.

    Press 4....
This is the reason Democrats should be kept far away from power.
They don't have the stomach to do the things necessary to secure freedom and they constantly seek to undermine our national security... Just look at their record since The Church Hearings.

When a 911 happens they do a CYA Rally... before turning on the nation again.

They even are so gutless as to use war votes to secure political power.
That is the absolute worst action a member can take. Vote to authorize force when they don't believe in it at all.

And then turn on the troops... en masse... minus Lieberman.

There aren't words to describe you folks.
It goes light years beyond disgusting.

You Lerxst, would have been a beautiful addition to the press corps during The Normandy Invasion.

Probably would have sought to have our men incarcerated for not taking prisoners after successfully storming the beaches.

There is still time for you kooks to go back and dredge that up.
There are still heroes out there who secured freedom you can **** on.

    Why not?
If you want to cleanse the nation by revealing how brutal war is... why not go back as far as possible with the living warriors; start with those from WWII?

What stopped you and what is stopping you?

What has taken you Truth Out kooks so long?
If you seek to "stop it".

Re: Obama to block detainee abuse photos

Found this really good article by S.E. Cupps where she brings up some really likely possible outcomes if this is Obama just setting himself up to react to the release of the photos occurring anyway.

The first one being a real likelihood and consistent with how Obama operates So I'll post it..

One, it’s possible that his reversal is purely symbolic. If it turns out that the previous commitment to release the images is irreversible, regardless of Obama’s new objection to it, it will be clear that the president’s statement is merely face-saving rhetoric, designed to brace against pointed criticism from the right when the Justice Department follows through with their plans. The photos will be released, everyone in the country besides the ACLU and MoveOn.org will be outraged, and the president will insist, “I told them not to do it.” Right…just after you told them they should.
