It was about politics, and nothing more. If I am wrong, then I want to hear the same people who condemned Bush condemn Obama. After all, he is doing pretty much the same thing.

    Article is here.
I have not read up in this situation and i have never really been adverse to war with Taliban. What i do have a problem with is the killing of civilians that is occuring and if what is being reported is right, then US has some explaining to do.

Are you realistically expecting zero civilian casualties?

Frankly I think our Air Force is doing an outstanding job of minimizing civilian casualties. It's tough getting it "perfect" from 60,000 feet.

I spent six years in the US Navy, working on military aircraft weapon systems("aviation fire control technician" was the official job title) and developed a fascination with ordinance and weapon systems in general. I am also a died in the wool liberal. So I want to agree with you from a political standpoint, sorta, except based on what I know, I can tell you explicitly that the US forces are desperately trying to minimize civilian casualties, to the point of increasing the risks they take to avoid civilian death. The problem is that "smart ordinance" or "precision ordnance" are relative terms. They are smarter and more precise than a standard munitions, but are far from perfect. The problem is also that humans make mistakes.

The civilian deaths(I hate the term "collateral damage", which seeks to minimize the emotional impact of what happened) are tragic, and I feel for those effected, but hope that there will be a greater good come out of this fight.

And finally - Democrat Vs. Republican support for the War in Iraq :

Seems to me that while Democrat support for the war in Iraq has been declining since the start, support for the war in Afghanistan has at the very least remained the same even while Bush was president(July 2008).
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK
