Those people who approved of this waste should be forced to reimburse the taxpayers all of the $400,000 themselves, out of their pockets.
This waste of our money has been going on far too long..We need more oversight, and more responsible men in government...
This is my emotional response...
Now to try to find the truth behind this...
News is based on sensationalism, the truth has nothing to do with this...This is why I admit to being poorly informed..

Yeah. I got that part of the joke, and it's genuinely funny at that level, but it's got so many other levels of funny that I literally could not stop laughing at them all.

I can't even put them to words to explain them. That's what I was getting at with my "I can't figure out" line. I worded it wrong as it came out as though id didn't get the joke, when in reality I got it on multiple levels and it made me laugh nearly uncontrolably (which doesn't really happen all that often).

There are useful things to consider about such a study. A lot of homosexual men engage in anal intercourse but when and where they do it, and if they use protection, can depend a lot on if they are intoxicated or not.

One would assume that sexual trends would be the same as with heterosexuals, but since the vast majority of sexual studies deal with heterosexuality, it's not safe to make the same assumptions of the homosexual demographic.

It's being paid for by the U.S. because it's a U.S. institute conducting the study and they applied for a grant. Where they decide to conduct the study could be anywhere they please as long as the findings are published in the United States.

Do they really need a study to tell them that excessive drinking leads to poor judgment and promiscuous. As far as I know gay people are subject to the same effects of alcohol as straight people.

Yes, because science does not make assumptions about its findings. If one day someone says "homosexuals who drink suffer poor judgment and engage in promiscuity as heterosexuals do", they will need to cite a study and this one will provide the citation.

Additionally, there aren't a huge number of studies on homosexual behaviour and alcohol. You can assume that the same actions take place but you can't really know until you study it. Also, the whole point of this study is to custom tailor educational materials to the gay community.

Last time I checked gays influenced the same way by alcohol just as straight people. We do not need science wasting money on studies with blatantly obvious results. It is common knowledge that excessive drinking leads to promiscuity and poor judgment, they do not need to waste $400,000 to figure this out.

But what they do and what sorts of high risk behaviour they partake in may be different than heterosexual people.
