Georgia’s alleged coup indicates that the army is turning on itself - Times Online

Here, Georgia is outright struck with protest actions and mutiny! For the whole month opposition has been protesting against Saakashvili and now even Georgian army refuse to obey Georgia’s head of the army – president Saakashvili!

You know, when army begin to mutiny, that’s really serious! And this is exactly Saakashvili in person who instigates destabilization in that country! Just because the whole Georgia is boiling with protest actions and whole Georgia is in opposition to Saakashvili, it is clear that no NATO exercises should be taking place there as NATO forces may happen to be involved in domestic political in-fighting! I’m sure that one shouldn’t doubt that the slick opportunist of Saakashvili will surely try to make use of the arrived NATO troops to suppress opposition’s protest actions. I say that he must not be allowed to manipulate the NATO! Generally speaking, we got to get rid of him at last!

I didn't think Georgia was part of NATO yet.

NATO Exercise Begins Amid Tensions
A day after Georgia announced that it had put down a brief military mutiny aimed at disrupting NATO military exercises, the drills began Wednesday over Russian objections.

According to the Georgian account of the mutiny, government forces surrounded a tank battalion whose leaders were planning the uprising some 25 miles from Tbilisi, the capital. A few hours later, most of the unit’s 500 soldiers surrendered, and several of their commanders were detained.

President Mikheil Saakashvili said Russia was hoping to derail the NATO exercises, which he called a “symbolic event.”

“We are asking our northern neighbor to refrain from any provocations,” Mr. Saakashvili said of Russia, in a televised interview.
