    LOL

But yeah, that's my issue when people complain about the big bad evil corporations and their greed.

If I offered you a flat panel TV that was 72" for $100 but it was made overseas and one that was 72" and $1000 but made in the US, and beyond that there's little difference to them, I would really wonder how many people would say "Oh I'd buy the $1000 one"

That's a wrap; pretty much sums up the entire debate about making everything in America.

Yeah ... you make a good point.

I think I was more referring to things like tech support.

I think Microsoft, Dell, Gateway, ect ... need to be forced to bring tech support jobs back to the United States.

I think it will be a great thing for our country, but it needs a little extra incentive of reducing American corporate taxes, as the U.S. has some of the highest in the world. But it is definitely time something was done. If the domestic tax is reduced and the offshore increased, then companies should return, much to the chagrin of those who make living exploiting cheap labor in the "developing" world.

Let's see how the Right will spin this....higher taxes? socialism? Obama is making a concrete step to return jobs to America, and I can't wait to read why the Right is against it.
I think anything that curbs outsourcing is a good thing. No one can sit there and say they patriotic while supporting the outsourcing of American jobs, those things do not go together.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Lets not forget one of the promary reasons jobs are sent overseas -- labor costs.

When will The Obama act to make the US labiot market more competitve with those overseas?

That is the reason many democrats and republicans in congress are against this latest tax change. They argue that there must be a decrease in the corporate tax here in the states and an outsourcing tax hike, in order to turn the balance in favor of U.S. workers.

There's much more to it than finessing the corporate tax here -- if a company can get someone to do the same work somwhere else at a significantly lower net cost, it will.

A global economy means a global labor marketplace -- like it or not, US workers must compete with workers all over the world. Competition, especaially in a situation with high supply and low demand, lowers prices.

And so, I ask again: When will The Obama act to make the US labor market more competitve with those overseas?

Your hero's gonna have Government Motors import cars from China. Any comment on that?
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

It's one half of what GM should have done according to Forbes. Maybe they'll finally get around to splitting the company in in half to service the World demand and US demand separately.
