U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanistan

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

No, I spoke pretty clearly. You probably didn't understand because I wasn't making the appropriate hand gestures like slamming a "c" shaped left hand against my right shoulder repeatedly.

I was right. You babbled.

It is fairly typical of those that are unable to calmly and rationally, like an adult, discuss a topic that might be distasteful.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

They are not forcing anyone to do anything. I mean that is just a little over the top don't you think?

Jesus never called for conversion via the sword according to scripture, some humans did it anyway, but that was a very long time ago and not backed by scripture.
Jesus is the same god of the OT right? Hellooooo

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

You are such a troll. Harmless little book that has been the basis for millions of deaths...

It is a harmless book. That's like blaming guns for murdering people.

Again, if you can show that Christianity and "that book" were the basis for millions of deaths and not the people and their motivations, I'll convert to buddhism today.

Another leftist unable to converse calmly. You people are so predictable.

You don't seriously think logic and reason are going to cut through his mouth foam do you?

Yes, but as you know as I have told you many times it is not what Christians are to follow. That is if you go by what Christ said.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

A military chaplain should only serve to give spiritual support and prayer to those in the military who want it and request it.

IMO they have ZERO business giving out bibles to any Muslim locals in foreign lands. If that occurred they are off mission and should be reprimanded.

There should be no confusion that military Chaplains of any faith serve to support those in the military who want spiritual guidance, prayers, and services upon request and they should not be using that position in any aim to convert locals in foreign lands to their faith.

It's a definitively clear line and we should not take it lightly when that line is crossed.

Have you ever met Cephus or Slippery Slope?
I don't knock on doors nor preach atheism, I rail against organized religion; specifically xianity. YOU FAIL. :2wave:

Not really, but I like the epic lolz when people like myself and him get worked up.

My sarcasm trumps your hysteria.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Only to people with really thin skin.

And that's up to you to decide?

Who has said they are not?

The book they are being handed?

Huge difference between "annoying" and "insulting."

You're going to hell if you don't do this. There's the "difference".

So what? For all I know they could be right. I don't think they are but meh. Again just PC garbage and people with really thin skin.

Once again, the thickness of skin so to speak, is not for you to decide.

Part of the reason this country is getting so messed up.

This country is getting so messed up because you are being told that your religion should not be pushed on someone with a claimed faith already?

I suppose I wouldnt care as much if there werent so much fire and brimstone included in the texts. But seeing how it's well known what the bible thinks of people of other faiths, yeah.... Think about it.

That's just like preaching.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Leftist always come unhinged at the mere mention of Jesus.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! :rofl

Wouldn't you think, probably not, but give it a try, that converting a few muslims to Christianity might just be a good thing?

Why do Muslims need to be converted to Christianity?
Muslims have Jesus already, there is no need to switch religions to have him tyvm.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Uummmm...

I find it insulting when it is forced by the state and other ways on people. - winston53660

We are still trying to find out what this "force" you mention is. Because the majority of religions (not including the lunatic fringe of Islam or any other) do not convert via the sword or any other forcefull means.

The Puritans would be a fine example of forced religion, yawn.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Why do Muslims need to be converted to Christianity?
For the same reason Christians need to be converted to Islam.

Where do they live?

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

You should have told him your an Athiest, and that we like watching R rated movies and music, and for him to respect you.

Why would I have done that? It was a reasonable request from him and I respected the guy enough to honor that. I could easily go out, see a movie, visit another friends room, etc.

As for those saying that it is ok for U.S. soldiers to spread the Christian faith in Afghanistan, since when did it become the mission of the U.S. military to spread Christianity in Afghanistan?

If it isn't a mission, then they shouldn't be doing it. If some civilians want to go there on a peace mission and do those sort of missionary work, fine, but the U.S. military in no way should be doing this.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Where do they live?

What does that have do with the price of tea in China..eyeroll.

Shhhhhh. Who are we to intrude upon his "ZOMG WTF LOLz I really am right sometimes" fantasies?

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

For the same reason Christians need to be converted to Islam.

Christians do not need to be converted anywhere.
They can cling onto Jesus and worship him as a God. Not my problem nor business.
You do not see me preaching Islam and attempting to convert anyone. I'd expect the same respect paid.

I worship not that which ye worship
Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship
Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
To you be your Way and to me mine

It's a beautiful passage
The Qu'ran says the path has been shown to you, you can choose to follow it or you can reject it. That is everyones choice.

Re: U.S. soldiers encouraged to spread message of their Christian faith in Afghanista

Why do Muslims need to be converted to Christianity?

I don't know, why do they "need" to be anything?

Muslims have Jesus already, there is no need to switch religions to have him tyvm.

Then why do leftists get their panties all twisted up?

I agree with you :)shock: I know, right?) for two reasons. First, to put proselytizing in the hands of soldiers is to engage in exactly the type of behavior we take issue with over militant Islam. Secondly, proselytizing is not permitted at most jobs and I don't think it should be especially forbidden in a government job being that we strive to keep a secular government from infringing on the religious freedoms of the citizens of our country; it is only right that we take the same precautions with citizens of other countries.
