In your defense it was in answering his question to you.

You do make it sound like handing out a bible is somehow insulting someone? How? You say not interested and move on. If they keep up after that you have em arrested.
I don't find handing out a Bible anymore insulting than handing out Anton Levy's Satanic Bible insulting. I find it insulting when it is forced by the state and other ways on people.

Rubbing them together may cause a fire.

Its not national policy. If done too much it could cause problems with some of the locals.
No? You must be a xian then. You see, the military is part of our nation and to be more specific, part of our government for all intents and purposes, it's a federal agency which means it's policies ARE our national policies. Let a private organization set up a tent outside off the military base to distribute bibles to anyone who comes asking. Soldiers walking down a street should not be passing out bibles.

Also give the Afghans some credit they are not lunatic extremists for the most part they are simply people going about their lives. Their leaders will make noises about this but unless it becomes US policy to overtly convert the nation they are not going to go ape crap over it.
LOL, get serious. We invaded their country, overthrew it's government. ANYTHING our soldiers do will look like American policy to them and it's just the kind of thing that sets radicals off calling for Jihad.

The reason they called Jihad(thus the Mujahideen) against the USSR was because the USSR had an overt program of destroying religion.
Ahh, are you sure it wasn't because the USSR was trying to take the country and make it part of the Soviet Union?

Its been 8 years as well..and more then enough Afghans have died fighting sideby side with US forces to almost make this an insult.
    WTF are you talking about?

The enemy though loves this stuff. Helped them alot in Iraq. The source is al Jazeera which is pretty much undeniably now the propaganda arm of the enemy.
    Duh... contradict yourself much?

Yeah, because it's worked out so well throughout history, you know that peaceful xian religion. Just ask Ireland!

It's common knowledge that each religion seems to believe they are the only one and that all followers of other religions are going to hell.

The book that is being handed to these people is a constant reminder of that belief and will be viewed as an insult.

You might as well walk right up to them and flat out say "You're wrong!"

How is it being forced (that word again) by the state? Because they are in the military this is somehow the state forcing the issue?

I could understand if the troops were given legal orders to go out and convert people by what ever you consider "force" insulting, but this is not the case.

As far as handing out Satanic bibles, so what? You say not interested and move on. No insult, no foul.

And so saying someone is wrong is now considered an insult? No wonder people aren't learning anything in school anymore.
