We don't have a whole lot of respect for the sovereignty of others. My comment I guess was more based on principle.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

I dislike attitudes like this sometimes.
It has the high and mighty feel behind it.
Its the idea that the only way is our way.

I don't care what the Afghans human rights record are, hell. I don't care what they do to their people.
Lets finish the job we have been dragged in to do and get the hell out that god forsaken country before we lose more soldiers.

Yes, I said as much in my post. What I'm trying to tell everyone is that Chaplains have no real authority. Sure, they can suggest (which is different than issuing an order) to the troops that they hand out Bibles, but that doesn’t mean the troops have to listen. The Chaplain doesn't set policy, he doesn't formulate strategy, he just comes around every so often and interrupts our free time.

By all means, discipline the idiot Chaplain, but let's not pretend there is some concerted effort by the US military to convert Muslims. Troops just want to eat, sleep, and jerk off. Handing out Bibles is not something they give a damn about.

Libertarian, leftist, whatever. You people are more leftist than not. Which is too bad actually. Libertarians have some good ideas.

You're not doing anything good. You're trying to reinstall basically theocracy, and that's not good.
Prove it. So, Afghan society is so fragile they cannot stand up against a few bibles? Really?

You can not use the US military to proselytize. If you want to do that, send missionaries.
Good idea! US military handing out a few bibles AND missionaries, cool.

The rule is the military can not proselytize. That's the law, those who have broken it can be punished.
I wasn't bitching. I was making a point. A valid point at that. Having said that, I haven't violated any military rule because I am not in the military. Therefore, I am not a hypocrite.

Agreed. And our Chaplains don't even carry weapons do they? So the gun in one hand with the bible in another was facetious.

No, they do not carry weapons. They barely even leave the wire. They mostly sit inside an air-conditioned office and eat at the chow hall every day. Every two months or so they'll come out to our COP (combat outpost) and talk nonsense to us. We roll our eyes, look at our watches, and think about tits and beer. When he leaves, we make fun of him and go back to whatever it is we were doing. Nobody is handing out any god damned Bibles, and if they are they're doing it on an extremely limited scale in total secrecy.

No squad leader or team leader in his right mind gives a **** about handing out Bibles and they certainly wouldn't let one of their Marines or Soldiers do it during a ****ing combat patrol. The only people we're looking to convert are terrorists...from alive to dead.
