Within a decade or two, your next pancreas, liver, or even heart might be grown in a sheep from stem cells taken from your body.

Not only are there ethical considerations by some people, but how about the possibility of a species-jumping disease that turns into a pandemic, wiping out millions of people?

However, having said this, I don't think the idea is really all that baaaaaaad.

No thanks.

I am a vegetarian, I do not want an animal to die, just so we can harvest it's organs.
Plus, I wouldn't want part of a sheep inside me, either. You can digest meat, take a crap, and it'll be out of your system, but always having that sheep inside of you is something completely different, and it's no better than eating meat.

Animals are already raised for mundane purposes, adding another one, even if the animal doesn't die, where you disect live animals for their organs, to me, is just plain wrong.

Its not part of a sheep, its a part of you by your own cells.

I certainly think replacing organs for a longer life is certainly "better than eating meat." That sheep could translate into a longer life, rather than a nice meal.

So long as the body recognizes the organ and does not reject it, I am down.

Cheaper than growing a whole clone in a bastard farm. And symbolically, I like the idea of eating the sheep that grew my replacement organs.

I envision comedian Steven Wright about 20 years from now, creating a self-cannibalization joke.

One step closer to immortality. Need to get to work on being able to regrow nerves and keeping the brain healthy.

someone's been watching too many Sci-Fi movies.

I wonder if I can grow weed in sheep.

Only with proper ventilation and lighting

** Gets his gun **

** Shoots a sheep 6 times **

** Sets sheep on open fire **

Ventilated and lighted well enough? If not, we can always eat the damn thing.

I believe the name of my weed grown from sheep will be

Baahhh Baahhh Black Sheep

and it's offspring will be

Mari's Little Lamb.

Sounds like someone's trying to pull the wool over our eyes.....
