    1) What he said is much different than what is being portrayed by the GOP. This is an excellent example of why the Republican party comes off these days as a bunch of used car salesmen who constantly misrepresent what they are selling.

    2) However, there can be no doubt that Specter made that statement for political purposes, and that his own political compass is broken.

So my answer now to the OP is that Specter is right, but he is also wrong. Huh???? LOL.
    Yes to this.

To rephrase what he said was that he disagreed with republicans on this issue, and that if the "war on cancer" had continued, Kemp might have survived his cancer. This is not blaming the GOP for Kemp's death but trying to show why he disagreed with a GOP position. You have to really read alot into his comments to see this as blaming the GOP for Kemp's death.

With that said, as a democrat, if I had been consulted on Specter, I would have been clear that I don't think we want him. He does no good for the democrats and is only changing parties to try and win upcoming election. Let him go independent if he does not like the republicans...oh wait, he can't do that, won't help him in the election...

That is a reasonable request, which shows why I sometimes have issues with that rule too.

What is your take on Specter's statement?

Oh, they merged got didn't they? Doesn't matter.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

    Honestly?

It was a slimy comment from a slimy politician. He was trying to make some big point about how, "see the GOP's stances just aren't with my values, take Jack Kemp, the research the GOP denied funding for is an example of where we differ so".... blah blah blah.

He threw in Jack Kemp to hit emotional heartstrings and missed the mark. I don't think he's used to this kind of scrutiny and just made a REALLY dumb and bad analogy.

Lieberman got kicked out of his own party, Specter did not.

The 2 are not really comparable.
I dunno. His badmouthing Obama before the election and then kissing his butt after Obama won.....that doesn't tell me he's a principled person.

    What do you call badmouthing?

You are correct. And you are not the problem. The article title is. Not your fault at all...you followed the rules as directed.
