I don't even see what the arguing here is about. Does any one not think the Northwestern people doing the hunger strike are not being stupid and ineffective? Why is it in something that seems so obvious and bipartisan, do we need to throw in partisan bickering?

Ha ha, okay... Thing is, I thought of that as much more of a conservative thing to say than a liberal. I have been many times referred to as a liberal, and yet I balked at such a statement.

Ahmademonjihad announced over the weekend that Iran will here an appeal for Saberi. Pressure from Human Rights organizations may or may not have something to do with it. I doubt it, It has never worked in the past. Iran will continue with there evil was regardless of outside influnces.

A policy of mercy just doesn't seem consistent with a policy of wanting to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth.

Most likely it is nothing more than a token gesture.

Pressure from Human Rights organizations may or may not have something to do with it.

Considering the types of crimes they execute and jail people for, I would have to say no they do not give a rats ass about human rights groups.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

No matter how many times you say it it won't make it true; Ahmedinejad never said that.

Kind of hard to say he didn't say such things when terrorist tv aka Al Jazeera says he said those things.

Al Jazeera English - Archive - Ahmadinejad: Wipe Israel off map

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has openly called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

"The establishment of the Zionist regime was a move by the world oppressor against the Islamic world," the president told a conference in Tehran on Wednesday, entitled The World without Zionism.

"The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land," he said.

"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map," said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran's revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.

His comments were the first time in years that such a high-ranking Iranian official has called for Israel's eradication, even though such slogans are still regularly used at government
    rallies.
