Justice Souter to retire

For Obama to appoint another so-called liberal is a mistake.
A worse mistake is naming a pro-homosexual "rights", pro abortion rights judge..
What our nation needs is a pro American judge, one who respects the working man..
Forget about these odd-ball fringe maniacs(homosexuals, abortion lovers, gun lovers,environmentialists)...instead we need a man who will do what is right for the majority of citizens...

There is no such thing as Pro-American. Only whatever definition a person makes up that fits in with their personal political/religions or ideological beliefs. It's one of those phrases/words made up by bleeding heart liberals and knot in the throat conservatives. It's kind of like how Reagan use to say 'It's morning in America!'. Only there is a large percentage of people who hate mornings.

Homosexuals cannot be working men?

People who have abortions cannot be working women?

Neither can be American?

How about some one who supports both...can I be a blue collar worker, or an American?

Ok, let's not devolve to that level. It's bad enough when certain hate-mongers on the right suggest we should poison Stevens. We should be better than the Coulter Crowd.

Not just that, but the far right love to point to any one on the left who makes statements like that, and claim that it is normal liberal thinking.

Man you have a short memory.....:2rofll:
I cut and pasted your words.....see post #17

Talk about the definition of irony :doh

You are kidding me now right? Do you really think that I didn't catch that; your efforts are those of someone who is lacking a grasp on reality.

How are my comments about someone wishing a Conservative justice dead in any way being closed minded? Or is it that you didn't intend to make a coherent point, it was just more of your typical baiting and trolling?

:doh

Yes indeed, and while we are at it, let's also pretend there are no "hate mongers" on the left nor acknowledge the blatant irony of wishing someone dead because of their views as somehow NOT being “hate mongering.”

You just cannot fabricate the level of denial and irony such statements require. :rofl

Hmmm, I missed that suggestion, who made it?

Words of a man busted by his own words who cannot own up to the fact that he looked foolish.:doh

Ya think the Republicans will demand an up or down vote?...LOL...

I never suggested that they didn't know of Souter's judicial philosophy.

It raises the question; then why would Republicans nominate or approve someone like Souter? Perhaps they wanted to appear unbiased and fair minded?

I think it is more likely that they trusted Bush's pick. That mistake was not made again, as we saw with Harriet Miers.

Yeah...because in Republican land there is no room for a "litmus test"

How about Hillary Clinton, or Michelle Obama ,for Justice Souters position? ;)

I have heard Clinton as a possible pick, but she will not get it for the same reason Michelle Obama will not: neither has any jurisprudence experience.

From WikiAnswer.com

Q: What are the requirements to be on the U.S. Supreme Court?

Answer
The Constitution of the United States establishes no requirements to be appointed a Justice on the Supreme Court. However, Presidents usually appoint people who have been lawyers or judges or in some way trained in the law.

I was just seeing if I could get a few of the locals heads exploding with that comment about Michelle and Hillary. Don’t expect he will nominate either one.

;)

Already the focus is turning toward a Hispanic or a Woman.
Again "perception" politics may take over in the place of "ability" politics.
It has so far.
IOW Headlines, Flashy Message, Look at Meism... instead of Expert, Learned, Aged, Experienced.
Pretty much the story of this administration.

Spoken like a true open minded right-winger.

Gotta love right-winger attitudes about those they disagree with.

Well, the facts speak for themselves.

Both Bushes thought they could "get along", and found out what that meant.
Getting booted every time they turned around.

McCain got the same treatment. Loved by the NY Times and leftist press because he leaned left... but given the choice between a real Loon Burger in Obama, and Loon Burger Lite when it was time to play for all the chips, they choose the one that had all the radical leftist leanings and then some.

Not only did the NY Times do a 180 on McCain, they didn't even let him submit an OPED as he wanted it written. Like a school by they sent him his OPED back and said it needed corrections.

The only way to get along with the left is to be aggressive in exposing their bizarre and hypocritical agenda and constantly stepping on their pencil necks to eek out some truth about who they are and what they want to do.

Instead we've had a series of politicians at all levels with an R by their name that still believe in the Tooth Fairy... and that you can get along with these people... people who fight Republicans 1000 times harder than they fight terrorists or terrorism.

The #1 question for Republican candidates should be: Do you believe you can work with Democrats? If the answer is No, or yes... if they bend... then the candidate can move forward. If he answers "yes", he can work with Democrats, then he's disqualified.

We don't need to stop what's going on, we need to reverse it, and this will never be accomplished "getting along" with this breed of Democrat.

Republicans in Congress need to kick Democrats in the balls daily, including their women. Show them how much their loved. Gridlock is good, and so is partisanship. Defeat their every plan no matter how small. They're socialists, and every law they pass and every suit they file is an effort to destroy the Constitution.

And yes, I QUESTION their patriotism, every minute of the day.

"Patriotism" does not just mean waving a flag and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance....just thought you should know.

Not legal to name Michelle. Nepotism laws and all that. Besides, we don't want a bigot on the court, do we?

And no way is he going to name the Red Queen. There hasn't been a Weatherman on the bench yet...

If not him, Obama will name someone else. The only guarantee is that Obama will name someone who's purpose is to destroy the Constitution.

He is a Democrat after all.

Fortunately it wasn't one of the four American justices that retired, just one of the traitors.

Disagree? Ask yourself what Souter choose to retire under a anti-American president like Obama instead of under Bush, when he would have provided the nation with the opportunity of having another Roberts, Alito, Scalia or Thomas, men who've proven their loyalty to the United States and the Constitution.

Speaking of timing, I asked the question about Specter switching parties just as this was announced. Coincidence?
