Obama vows great 'vigilance' as swine flu spreads :: WRAL.com
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama pledged "great vigilance" in confronting the swine flu outbreak Wednesday night as it began hitting home across the U.S. The outbreak spread to 11 states and closed schools amid confirmation of the first U.S. death - a Mexican toddler who visited Texas with his family - and the confinement of dozens of Marines after one came down with the disease in California.

I found this pleasing:

He praised the Bush administration for making preparations for such a crisis, including stockpiling 50 million doses of antiviral medications.

:applaud for our boys in Red.

"Great vigilance," huh?

I feel better knowing someone is watching. We'll know in a few days if all the watching BO will be doing helped or not.

Seriously? How is this a partisan issue. Any party would likely handle this situation in a similar way.

By doing nothing? I don't think so.

Hey since we blamed a hurricane on Bush, do we get to blame the flu on Obama?

Hey since we blamed a hurricane on Bush, do we get to blame the flu on Obama?

The fallacy of your argument, as usual, is that no one blamed Bush for Hurricane Katrina, they blamed him for the pathetic lack of response to the catastrophe.

If the flu turns into a catastrophe and Obama responds in a likewise pathetic fashion, then absolutely he should get the blame for the pathetic response.

Hey since we blamed a hurricane on Bush, do we get to blame the flu on Obama?

Bush was not blamed FOR the hurricane, he was blamed for his response.

Although some right wing nutjobs did try to blame the morality of the people for the hurricane.

Yet, make NO mistake that the partisan hacks will play the pandemic to the hilt.

The logical person knows that Obama is no more responsible for a pandemic hitting the US than President Bush was for a hurricane laying waste to the Gulf Coast.

Yet, the partisans zealots will make every attempt to spin, manipulate, and maliciously try to lay the blame on their counter-egos, as their counter-egos defend and justify.

Myself, I just see these zealots as two-sides of the same bad-penny.

I'm gonna grab some popcorn and watch the party absurdities begin.

Are you doing your don quixote impression today?

I think Obama's response thus far to a mild flu, is more than "responsive" and "Adequete" but seems to be a bit overboard. But hey. don't let me stop you attacking dem windmills.

Well let's just wait and see how Obama handles this. So far, so good in my estimation, so let's hope this admin does not drop the ball, as it does seem this virus is highly contageous.

Good for you. Pack your bags and go on that trip to Mexico City. Remember not to pack a mask.

Gee Rev. That was so deeply profound it has rendered me speechless.

How he handles a mild flu? Come now. This is hardly news worthy anymore now that scientists are stating this is not even as bad as the regular flu.

I guess then you believe that Obama handled the outbreak in a better fashion than Bush responded to Katrina?

Yes I believe Obama handled a mild flu outbreak that is less lethal than our every year's flu outbreak better than Bush, Naggins, and that idiot govener handled a massive hurricane disaster.

I also think Obama can dance much better than bush can fly jets....

Barry is approaching this pork barrel panic, (or is it some kind of pandemic pig virus) with vigilance. Bush didn`t do that with the huricane, and Bush didn`t love all of us equaly, as does Barry. I think Barry should get very high marks for his efforts at terror and control of the American people. At least he told us the swine are comeing, unlike the 747 of recent days, (he is being more vigilant).

Hey wait a darn minute. GWB told us that the Huricane was comeing,( he knew it all along), He must have had more to do with it than we realized. He does get the blame

If you want to control a population, induce fear. .

I, President Barry Obama, promise to protect all of you from from this Pandemic,...So Help Me God.

Yes, in Global America, ( the New World Order), any party would in fact induce panic, but in a partisan manner so as to control the populace in the ways in which that party wishes to guide us all to prosperity and freedom. ...OH,...and in good health, and free from global warming, and West Nile Crocodiles, and global threats like the Korean midget...OH, OH, OH, and bad grades in school...and, and, and, etc. etc. etc.

Sincerely Yours

Really? How does "This is a cause for concern, not for alarm" a scare tactic from the WH? It's a way of covering their asses later in case it does turn bad, but in now way is the WH saying "everyone is going to die, go get plastic wrap and duct tape and lock yourself in your house. The germs can't get you that way"

No, the VP is just telling people to avoid all public transportation now.

I think that they use these almost daily panic inducements, to distract us from whats really going on, like pork barrel spending, lineing the pockets of the wealthy but inept, Affirmative action, globalism, police state governance, wars for oil, junk science, etc, and other TRUELY scarry dung (the least of which they are concerned about...it doen`t pay as well...no pork).

At which point the administration went into damage control. I won't defend Biden. I wouldn't recognize him if he didn't have his foot in his mouth.

Eh, fear is on a personal level. I haven't been frightened since he was in office. The things he is trying to accomplish that scare you are things I want to see done. That is NOT to say he hasn't made mistakes, he has, and will make many more, but I am overall pretty satisfied.

Also, for what it's worth, I also wasn't "scared" for most of Bush's reign. I disagreed strongly with a lot more of his policy based on my political stance, but was rarely frightened by scare tactics.
