Low level flight panics NY

Crying over this incident is like crying over spilled milk.

As one who lived through that day in september 2001, lost relatives and friends. I find your dismissive attitude, rather insulting and ignorant.

Thank you for comparing my loss to "spilled milk".

But any how from my understanding this was a photo op and the image was made over the Hudson. Now why the heck would they decide to do this in morning early afternoon when the light would be better in the early evening to sunset?

Yeah because that is the crux of the issue here.

Although someone in the Mayor's office dropped the ball for not notifying him.

IBID

 The biggest **** up was bloomberg's admin. looks like his office had notice and he flubbed it.

Had he gotten his BB working he could have fought the federalis on the secrecy issue.

Start the Obama impeachment hearings!!

winston, I have to say I agree with the Reverend. That was a horrific day. I can imagine how many memories this thing brought out to those who were there that day.

Honestly, Reverend, I think he wanted to make a joke about the timing of the picture taking. But we shall see. winston is a good guy. I think he didn't mean any harm, but I feel your pain.

No I was not making a joke. No harm was done beyond spilled milk and an apology was issued. It could have been a much better PR event had the flight been announced but in the end no substantial harm was done.

Was it stupid as **** not to announce the flight, YES. I bet New Yorkers would have been proud to see Air Force One flying around Manhattan. Speaking as a former New Yorker myself I know I would have been whom ever was President.

I see your point. But I also see Reverend's point. We all react differently to stimuli. Thank you for clarifying what you meant.

No harm done everything is cool on this end. And Rev I understand your position. I hope everything is cool.

Next time they pull this **** I hope someone on the ground is standing with a stinger missile.

Intent means nothing. One should at least notify Dr. Bloomberg.. you know... I guess his $1 salary gets him overlooked.

Horrible planning, horrible execution... those responsible for the lack of communication should be immediately kicked in the nuts for incompetence.

It should have been announced on tv and radio days before it was to occur. There's no reason at all for a photo op such as this was to be secretive. Many folks probably would've been happy about having their own cameras ready to catch a cool shot. But there's really no excuse for scaring the piss out of people, causing buildings to be evacuated, and people standing in the streets in shock and fear. Very dumbass thing.

Just another instance of poor judgement on Obamas part. Not thinking things through seems to be the recurring pattern with this administration.

Maybe the fear of that is why they didn't publicize it.

Where does the buck stop?

It was not Obama that made this judgment. As Bkad has already pointed out it was an Army General.

Comeon, have some more class than that. I would like to see your spilled milk comparison if either of the following applied to you 1.) You were in lower Manhattan on September 11th, 2.) Had a loved one in lower Manhattan on September 11th or god forbid actually in either one of the towers.

The nightmares/panic attacks and every other PTSD syndrome are a very real consequence remaining from that day. Tell the children who wake up crying for their dad every night and the mother who stays awake with them crying that they are crying over 'spilled milk' Absolutely absurd.

There is still a large majority of the population that just does not grasp the psychological impact that an event of that magnitude has on the general populace. I was absolutely shocked/apalled and felt like I was there that day even though I was sitting 600 miles away in study hall with no relatives or anyone I knew in lower Manhattan. I guess some of us just have more compassion and morality than others.

Had you read through the thread you would know my history of living in NYC. I was there for the first bombing (that I did not mention in this thread). And you would know I did lose friends in the second attack. As a matter of fact my niece and brother were at the WTC the day before for a ballet recital. So you tell me all about it. And you tell me all about terrorist building bombs in your neighborhood that would have most likely killed you in the event they had gone off. No I do not take this lightly. What happened was the equivalent of spilled milk in the PR world.

Oh did I mention I actually worked in the media biz in NYC?

Ok, that is good and important to know, none the less are you just so hard and stoic that this didn't adversly effect you? You still didn't explain your crying over spilled milk analogy

I'm sorry but I did explain:

The president was not on board the flight, which was organised to take photographs of Air Force One against the New York skyline.

This is why you weren’t supposed to vote for Obama.

He either didn't know about the flight and thus does not have control over critical military assets, or he's a complete imbecile for thinking this was a good thing to do.

It's exactly like a trusted police officer passing his hand over the crotch of a woman who was raped.

How hard would it have been to just issue a statement advising people in the surrounding area what they were going to do? Not very hard, I would imagine.

I mean damn, how out of touch are those people who arranged that, that they wouldn't even think of how it would effect that area?

That would have made AF1 a target.

Our incredible tech-savvy President.

Only uses photoshop on his birth certificate, can't imagine it could be used for real photographs, like, say, maybe, AF1 over New York.

This stunt ranks right up there was our Idiot Rapist President shutting down LAX so he could get a haircut.
