That, in no way, gives the Texan governor the right to mention secession as a possibility. It clearly says in our Pledge of Allegiance 'One Nation, under God, INDIVISIBLE'.

    So yes, it is un-American.

The Federal government did nothing out of its jurisdiction, the republicans (if you want to make this about party affiliaition) are being overdramatic and are still sore about the election.

I bet you wouldn't be pissed at the Rep. who told a democratic governor the same thing in the same situation.

I hardly think there was "fit throwing" going on....check into it...as of last I had heard...31 states had either passed or were in the process of reviewing calls for sovereignty. I believe it passed the Indiana Senate on the 9th of April WOOHOO! I pray noone secedes but im pretty sure that our military leaders will reign it all in without too much bloodshed if it does happen. The tea parties were really about alot of things to alot of people....Joe Blow maybe cared about taxes...but another guy/gal cared about the rediculous power our federal government has. The Federal Government has ballooned WELL beyond its constitutional borders and infringes on states and the people in EVERY aspect. Its not a partisan thing....hell republicans (which ive now parted from) were doing the same damn thing...its time for our country to correct itself and its rediculous that these pompous FU$%TARD politicians wont listen. I dont even care about myself and any of you guys......I care about our children and their children. Another thing while im at it....FU$% the 2 state "solution this administration is striving for...if anyone really thinks the Palistinians will be happy when they have a state...think again.......GO ISRAEL EAT THEIR FILTHY ALLAH LOVING SOULS! (sorry been to iraq and afghanistan and pretty much hate islam ) Besides, no matter how many nations rise and fall and disappear into history....Jews have always been around...hmm...and Hebrew, once thought dead, was revived to become their national language....not to mention the fact that Israel was reborn...crazy how Gods promises seem to ACTUALLY happen....and no...im not Jewish but protestant...but damn Jews and their Country are REMARKABLE!

The entire text of the second amendment reads:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Any interpretation of this sentence to justify secession or revolution is a figment of your imagination.

The language is right there, any attempt to bend it into permission to revolt is wishful thinking.

The express purpose of the amendment was to resist tyranny including state tyranny. This was why it was inserted with anti-federalist pressure. Case closed.

No, it justifies a free State.

The amendment is about guns. But I do think that a reason behind it was to have the populace capable of fighting an oppressive government. The second amendment doesn't insist that we join Texas, not every rebellion/revolution is justified. For example secession of the Southern states in the early 1860s.

Erroneous and disproven. There are any number of Founder quotes indicating that the right of the citizenry to keep and bear arms was in part to prevent tyranny from their own government, by force as a last resort. (The Founders themselves did exactly this in breaking with Britain, you might have noticed.) I've posted many of those quotes in other threads... must I do so again?
