Glad one of us is having some sun, it's so rare here.

My day is the same as usual, it'll most likely rain and i'll get wet :P

Let me make my position very clear .

I don't support pirates anymore and what they are now doing but i do have alot of sympathy for their position.
In a sense, i'm for the fishermen who hijack ships within our waters but outside of it - We should keep away.

I think it has turned from something small to a lucrative business and corruption is bound to set in soon. It is having damaging impact on surrounding countries and will further destabilize Somalia, Puntland and Somaliland not to mention have a ripple effect on Kenya, Dijoubti and Ethiopia as the increase of more high tech weapons means unsafe borders [Especially Ethiopia]

What i am against is soldiers, more notably. US or any soldiers anywhere near Somali soil. It will do more damage than it will solve.

    Your position is contradictory.

If by "hijack" you mean seize ships fishing illegally or otherwise in Somali waters illegally, that is Somalia's right.

If by "hijack" you mean seizing any other vessel, then you're on the wrong side of the argument.

It would not be pretty, that's for certain. If the Somalis don't rein in the pirates themselves, however, that is exactly what will happen.

Not really, i'm for seizing any ship within the territorial waters of Somalia. What i am now against, is hijacking off that.

Lawful maritime commerce has a right to transit territorial waters unmolested. Seizing lawful merchantmen is piracy.

If you enter another countries marked territorial waters, you are lucky not to be blown up. Stay away and be safe.

    1. There are no "marked territorial waters," unless Somalia has been putting out marker buoys of late.
    2. The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea asserts the right of transit.
    3. Blowing up lawful merchantmen is terrorism, and merits the same sanction as piracy--death to the perpetrators.

Piracy of this nature must end. There needs to be international special-secret 'ops' teams put in place to dispose of such gangs without wreckless harm brought to civilian bystanders. Some hostages may loose their life with any attempts of bloodletting of such thugs, but this is one time collateral damage has a place with ending such acts of crime on the high seas. POV

And what do you base justifiable/unjustifiable on? Motive. Now are you going to argue that a man who murders for money is more justified than one who murders out of anger?
