Black man's killing by police shakes La. town

Again this is just stupid. There is no use in even being civil because of the huge levels of stupidity to which you have jumped.

I brought up a relevant argument that had nothing at all to do with Hauty or Black entitlement, slavery or anything like that. I merely said there are causes to the situation we have in the black community today and it is up to the black community to correct.

Somehow this makes me a race bater and Jesse Jackson supporter? Then you try to somehow interject slavery in Africa as it somehow applys to the problems today?

To stupid.

You shouldn't even bother anymore. Some people just don't get it and never will.

Irrelevant, once we stop doing exactly this, then there is progress. Many of us already have, will you join us?
It's quite relevant. He was quick to stereotype and generalize other races but will not divulge his own for fear of retribution.

Now that's funny. You started with the name calling, and here you are trying to play the victim. Typical.

Yeah, whatever:

I never called you a race baiter. I said your rhetoric is like Sharpton/Jackson.

Slavery in America originated in Africa. African-Americans obviously correlate Africa with America.

You refuse to accept this fact.

You either miss his point or choose to remain ignorant. Which is it?

Now that's funny. You started with the name calling, and here you are trying to play the victim. Typical.

You have got to be kidding.

"I roll my eyes and shake my head when I hear people like you cling to your Plight of the Black Man stories."

American then called me a race bater and you followed suit...

"More wallowing, more Sharpton & Jackson type of rhetoric."

Like I said, it is stupid.

You still have no idea what I said do you?

I never called you a race baiter. I said your rhetoric is like Sharpton/Jackson.

That line was directed at you and others.

Slavery in America originated in Africa. African-Americans obviously correlate Africa with America.

You refuse to accept this fact.

That comment is just.... forget it.

No, they didn't. Slavery has roots that go way further back than colonialism. Please don't play stupid as I know you are not.
Actually I think native Americans also had slaves.

I skimmed most of the posts. What stereotypes did he make?
He made more of the generalizations, it was American with the stereotyping. Here's two I found pretty quickly:

Precisely why I laugh in your face, no one cares. So just keep carrying that chip on your shoulder and pass it on to your next generation, so they too can wallow in their self made pity parties. :lamo

It's 2009, blacks can either join the rest of us in the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, or they can wallow in the mire of their own self pity.

I love how people think that electing a black President suddenly erases 400 years of racism. Was it a huge step int he right direction? Yes. However, it still can't change or erase what has happened in the past. I'm not saying that people are justified to use it as an excuse for everything, but to claim that it's suddenly over is purely ignorant.

It was the final step, not the first.

We have:

Black USSC Justices.
Black Congressthings (which isn't a racist statement, all members of Congress are things, IMO)
Black Senators
Black Senatorettes (former welfare queen, too)
Black Attorney General.
Black Surgeon General.
Black Governors.
Black Secretaries of State.
Black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Black cops.
Black firepersons.
Black doctors.
Black lawyers.
Black engineers.
Black Oscar winners.
Black Grammy winners.
Black CEO's.
Black generals.

ANYTHING a white man can do, blacks not only have equal opportunity to do, they've pretty much excelled at every field of endeavor on an equal basis with whites.

Except that whites still have to compete with the racist and unfair Affirmative Action programs. We have white firemen suing because they were passed over for promotion because they're not black. The Los Angeles Fire Department several years back had an open application day. White people were told not to bother applying.

Colleges have quotas for races. Can't say they're not racist still. Qualified whites get rejected solely on the basis of race.

So lets drop the "poor little black" routine in politics, and end racism, period.

For the case in the OP, I don't see the racism. A man interfered with an arrest. White people get shot doing that, too.

Nah, a simple observation of someone who blames others for their inability to assimilate into our society.

You still have no idea what I said do you?

Yeah, I've been hearing the same nonsense for the last several decades. Different messenger, same message.

That line was directed at you and others.

Yeah, whatever.

That comment is just.... forget it.

I know, it makes you a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. You can't blame slavery on the white man, and point out social issues that some black people might have because of it.

The origins of slavery in Africa are indeed revelant to slavery in Amerca.

End racism?

Racism will never be eradicated. People of all races will continue to harbor their own personal judgments on people of different races based on poorly constructed stereotypes. And no, I'm not denying that racism doesn't exist against white people because it does. But to act like the plight of the white man as far as Affirmative Action goes to 400 years of racism is just silly. I also had no "poor little black" routine. I merely said that while black people shouldn't wallow in the past and continue to make excuses for it via the Jackson/Sharpton rhetoric, they also shouldn't bury their heads in the sand and pretend that it didn't happen.

Nah, a simple observation of someone who blames others for their inability to assimilate into our society.

Does not really make your comment any less stupid.

Yeah, I've been hearing the same nonsense for the last several decades. Different messenger, same message.

Not really. You have proved beyond all reasonable doubts you have no clue.

Yeah, whatever.

Truth hurts.

Who cares?

The important part is that government isn't racist, except when it comes to discrminating against whites.

If a privately owned company doesn't want to hire a minority, for totally racist reasons, guess what? It's supposed to be a free country, they're supposed to be able to run their business their way. If that means they don't hire skilled employees, it's their problem.

If a privately owned company doesn't want to serve a minority, for totally racist reasons, guess what? It's supposed to be a free country, they're supposed to be able to run their business their way. If that means they turn away customers, it's their problem.

Who cares?

This is true. Affirmative action in the workplace and school needs to go now.

It helped back in the day. Now it is just a tear in the racial divide and supports reverse discrimination as far as I am concerned.

I would have no problem with company's hiring as they see fit.

You can't argue the facts, so you call it stupid, when you yourself said that the black community needs to correct it's problems. :doh

Not really. You have proved beyond all reasonable doubts you have no clue.

Yes really, different messenger, same message, and you're still the clueless one.

You've done nothing but make excuses for the black communities inability to assimilate into society.

Truth hurts.

And you're feeling the pain.

Ahhh yes, the dramatic "eye roll". Again, you can't argue the facts.

This is true. Affirmative action in the workplace and school needs to go now.

Affirmative action is reverse discrimination, it had no place to begin with.

It helped back in the day. Now it is just a tear in the racial divide and supports reverse discrimination as far as I am concerned.

Priceless. You support discrimination when it's against the other guy.

I would have no problem with company's hiring as they see fit.

Yet you cry about it here:

I have been greeted at job interviews with a comment like " hmmm you did not sound black over the phone." Needless to say I did not get the job.

Huge difference between correcting a problem and assimilating. You give no facts to argue.

Again you have shown you have no idea and not a clue.

Affirmative action is reverse discrimination, it had no place to begin with.

CNN.com - How affirmative action helped George W. - Jan. 20, 2003
Affirmative Action: Who Benefits?

The second article goes on to say it is still needed....

"A series of laboratory studies have shown that almost all people have trouble detecting a pattern of discrimination unless they are faced with a flagrant example or have access to aggregated data documenting discrimination (Clayton and Crosby, 1992). This inability to make accurate judgments about discrimination from isolated incidents or comparisons is just as true for fair-minded and intelligent people as it is for others. Aggregated data are needed, therefore, if decision makers are to avoid or correct imbalances before they become flagrant. As shown in the table opposite, affirmative action is the only policy that requires an organization to collect and scrutinize aggregated data.

Data indicate that the biases against minorities and women that humans show in laboratory settings are reflected in real-world practices. According to the March 1995 report of the Federal Glass Ceiling Commission, for example, a large proportion of minorities and women are locked into low-wage, low-prestige, and dead-end jobs. Additional data suggest that these two groups have been disproportionately affected by current trends in workforce downsizing; many service-oriented industries, for example, disproportionately employ women and minorities and are likely to continue downsizing through the year 2002. It is likely that the minorities and women who work in these industries will be hardest hit (Murrell and Jones, 1995).
"

Wrong again.

Priceless. You support discrimination when it's against the other guy.

So I suppose when Jewish people tell about the bad things that happened during the Holocaust, they are also crying about it?

I did give the facts. The fact that slavery does not start at the shores of America. You need to address where and how slavery began to understand it's impact in America.

Again, you don't want to argue this point, because it destroys your feeble attempt at debate here.

The first 5 words below, sum up your articles:

A series of laboratory studies

We don't live in a laboratory.

You said:

It helped back in the day

No, it discriminated. So it didn't help, it only redirected the discrimination.

So using it as an example of the discrimination that still happens today is crying about it? :rofl

You said you have no problem with it here:

If you have no problem with it, then there's no need to bring it up.

Your incessant crying over it is duly noted though.

So I suppose when Jewish people tell about the bad things that happened during the Holocaust, they are also crying about it?

You're confused. This thread isn't about the Jews or the holocaust.

Please feel free to start a thread on the subject.

Some years ago when I worked for the government I was in a position to generate engineering contracts which were generally put out for competitive bidding through the procurement department. On occasion these contracts were selected for 'small and disadvantaged business' placement. The result was that the contract went directly to a couple of former Hispanic government employees who had incorporated, then sublet the majority of the work out to the non-minority business who'd normally have won the bid in the first place. What we ended up with was a less-than-perfect product for about twice the cost. In order to bypass the SBA directive, we'd have had to have shown that the work was so critical and urgent and that the minority small business was so unreliable that national security would have been threatened. Almost anyway.
