Black man's killing by police shakes La. town

We entrust the police to protect us. We MUST trust that they do the right thing, and give the investigative arms time to work.

Maybe you do. Anyone wearing a badge and carrying a gun should never be trusted.

As for protection.....yeah, right, sure they are.

Reality check: When seconds matter most, the police are just minutes away.

Heart of the story:

"Police said Monroe was shot after he pointed a gun at them, though no one claims Monroe fired shots. Friends and family said he was holding a bottle of sports water. They accuse police of planting a gun he owned next to his body"

You're not supposed to point guns at cops.

Those trigger happy sons-of-bitches have wet dreams for the days when it happens.

Reading comprehension.

FRom an outsiders percpective it seems to me America seems to focus on race so much it always result in a racial divide on opinion.Could it not just be the police ****ed up? Has this never happened to a white man in a similar scenario.

As someone who lives in New York City....I could not disagree more. There are a lot very good, honest, and admirable police officers who do a lot to serve and clean up their community. Then there are also a lot, more than you think, who abuse their power. Who take bribes, go on power trips, and join the force for the sole purpose of "bashing a n****** skull in" (to steal a line from the Departed). I don't know the whole story, but I have seen black men being harrassed for no other reason than the color of their skin. Not all police officers are the prime example of morality, trust me. Don't be so naive.

That being said, I teach high school in the Bronx and the other day a laptop was stolen from a supply closet and immediately it was blamed on one of the 5 black kids in the school (my school is almost entirely Puerto Rican and Dominican). This kid had absolutely nothing to do with it, but was harrassed and questioned by white and Hispanic police officers who came to the scene. I had never seen racism by the cops up close and personal like that before. So yes, it does happen, and more often than we think apparently. So let's not jump to conclusions either way, because this guy could be in the wrong and be a crook and the cops acted by the code, but there is just a good of a chance that this cop is a bigoted corrupt little weasel who was just looking for a reason to shoot a black man. It's hard to make judgement either way, it just would behoove everyone to not rush to judgement on either person.

Very ungentlemanly of you to not tell us where you live, Hatuey.

It sorta makes you a troll.

I've been here for years and 15,000 ****ing posts. Look up my posts so I don't have to tell somebody who's been here for like 2 and a half consecutive months and less then 1/10th of my posts where I live. The only troll around these parts is you my Louisiana son.

You already do.

without evidence you bring up race as the factor. rather speculative of you.

typical race baiting on your part.

"Police said Monroe was shot after he pointed a gun at them,"

but instead of waiting to wait until the investigation concludes, you want to believe one side over another...

how sharpton of you.

What race baiting you silly Rush Limbaugh wanna be? I made the case that this is seems typical of cops who screw up regardless of where they live and it wouldn't even surprise me with Louisiana cops. Where did I even mention race in my posts? Or are you prematurely ejecting gas out of that thing you call a mouth once again? How O'Reilley of you.

I love these liberal bleeding heart stories... a black male, peaceful, good guy, never did anything wrong, gunned down by trigger happy cops for no REASON! Obviously it was skin color and nothing else that caused this senseless death, and the cops will get off sctt free!

Uhhhh that's exactly what happened. Do you have anything to suggest differently? If not. Then please continue trolling.

I love how lefties like Hatuey are ready to judge, jury and executioner of the police. What happened to such foreward thinking premises like I dunno... innocent until proven guilty? Or, not rushing to judgement?

Where did I make them executioners? I said it was too early to tell but it wouldn't surprise me if regardless of what happened they got off easy. It's standard.

I wonder Hatuey, if this had been some black thugs, killing a white man, would you even bother to mention it? Black cops killing an older white man?

Somehow, I think not. You just cannot resist the sirens call of a case of a black man being shot by the cops can you?

I probably wouldn't have cared considering I made this about cops mostly. But since you're bringing race into this MrVicchio. Our resident Stinger Impersonator. Do you think if this had been a black kid killing a cop you wouldn't have been calling for his execution like the little far right radical we all know you to be?

Meh...well justice is some sort of compensation.
How do you compensate a dead man?

Compensation and justice are for living folk. The dead are past such things.

I feel there should be groups set up in every town to police the police cause they damn sure are not gonna police themselves in an objective manner:(

Yeah and what kinda price are we putting on human lives these days:confused:

Depends on the life. My life, for example, is quite valuable and would command a high price.

Wow....

Now you decide to wait for the investigation to conclude instead of blaming somebody right off the bat....

Are you really going to try this?

let me know and we'll hijack this together. These are two totally different scenarios.

Look at your title, and your "cops" and "Louisiana" statement.

Should I wait for another loss of control blow up in response?

Should there also be groups to police the police police? And how about a group to police the police police police. Wow, this could turn into a full employment program.

I thought, in US towns and cities, there were already groups in place to police the police; sometimes referred to as mayors, city managers, city councils. I know from experience they don't do a very good job of it, at least in southern MO, but I fail to see how setting up another organization will do any better.

In my city we have what is called the Public Integrity Bureau. They handle police complaints.

Nobody wants drunk tourists beat up by cops.

That's a bigoted statement, isn't it?

Not really. I don't disapprove or am against their right to live in a state known for having some of the lowest education standards and highest poverty rates all while having a Governor who is proud of having reduced taxed because they some of the biggest recipients of federal money. Gasp! But I will make fun of them for this :). It's kinda like mentally challenged people. I'll make fun of them. But I won't refuse them a glass of water.

That can be handled in another thread if you'd like. Obama is trying to do things that are wrong, so no, he shouldn't get anytime. when he stops trying to turn the country into a socialst, cradle to grave nanny state then maybe, but otherwise...no, he deserves no acceptance of failed ideas and plans.

Surely you have quotes and links showing he is doing just that? and links to show where other countries have gone to hell in a hurry by doing what he is doing/trying?

No president is a dictator, he still has to get congress to go along with his ideas.

Ever try to herd cats?

Ummm the title my internet illiterate friend was provided by the AP. Thus why it wasn't changed by the mods. Do you have ANY other issues I have no control over?

A fire destroyed a fourplex in South Los Angeles.
A Nigerian family of con artists lived on the first floor, and all six died in the fire.
An Islamic group of seven Kenyan welfare cheats - all illegal - lived on the second floor. They too, all perished in the fire.
Six Hispanic Gang Banger ex-cons lived on the 3rd floor - dead to the man.
One white couple living on the top floor survived the fire.
Jesse Jackson, John Burris and Al Sharpton were furious. They flew into LA and quickly demanded a meeting with the fire chief.
On camera, they loudly demanded to know why the Blacks, Black Muslims and Hispanics all died in the fire and only the white couple lived.
The fire chief quietly replied, "They were at work".

Funny, eh?

Actually that is pretty funny.

You hate the part of the country that has the most black people.

You're being bigoted and you know it.
