In 1870 the 15th Amendment was passed: 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

This was a good start, but it did not last long. Unfortunately this only applied to men 21 and older. In order to limit voting rights states implemented all kinds of tests and other criteria which had to be passed in order to vote. in 1965 Lyndon Johnson proposed "The Voting Rights Act of 1965" limiting the power of states to change their voting laws to restrict who could vote. It wasn't until the early 70's however that most blacks were able to actually vote freely.

The right to even vote was not changed until 30 years ago for Blacks (in comparison to whites) and lets not even go into the "Jim Crow" era as a whole.

This is no excuse for the "ghetto culture" or "white man holding me down" garbage. There is cause and affect here though, and it was not that long ago.
Why do you call yourself a Constitutionalist?

    Nice try though.
What specifically are you comparing it to?

Hey man, fun and exciting flame you've caused. Not surprised how it's turning out, you black-hating prick. So, old buddy, where are you from?

SF is one of the most beautiful cities in America. It's laid out fairly well, and has managed to largely avoid sprawl. It has some beautiful architecture, like the TransAmerica building, Coit Tower, and the bridges. The weather is some of the nicest around. And most of the people, though you may not agree with their lifestyle, are pretty nice. To say nothing of its role as an artistic and cultural hub.

LA is a complete and utter **** hole, though. I really can't argue there.

Taken out of context with my last sentence you could have made a point. I already covered this.

And no, until you really experience being treated as a second class citizen, you really don't know cross or not.

I have been greeted at job interviews with a comment like " hmmm you did not sound black over the phone." Needless to say I did not get the job. I have had people cross to the other side of the street and been run out of Bridgeport Illinois by the police for being black.

You can pretend it does not exist, but it does. It is no where near as bad as when my parents were coming up, but don't pretend it is not happening today. Or try and say any time someone says "racism" based on nothing more than the fact they are black it is someone crying wolf.

What does this have to do with what I said? That is for another thread.

    PS Because I actually am.

It's easy for people who cannot relate to dismiss what they fail to comprehend. Great post, but I feel as though it falls on deaf ears.

Side anecdote: I was at lunch the other day when someone drove through the parking lot in a big truck and yelled a racial slur at a black customer. He laughed and shook his head. I walked over to him and told him that I apologized for the ignorant man's actions. He kindly thanked me and shook my hand. It was odd, because I've never felt ashamed to be white until I saw firsthand another white individual spew some racist nonsense.

Does not matter if they are deaf or not. It needed to be said.

You should not be ashamed of what that dumb ass did, it is no reflection on you. I don't let "ghetto behavior" reflect on who I am and judge each individual by his actions.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.
It was just for a split second that I felt ashamed. That feeling then turned to pity for the racist, who seems to hate or love people based solely on skin color. What a sad way to live life.

I love it. According to the geniuses on this thread. I'm both a black hater and a race baiter. It is a very delicious but consistently inconsistent pastry.

Well being a conservative I can still say I am firmly in the Chris Rock category of "nigga" vs "black."

Seen it way to much and have no tolerance for that stupidity from anyone anymore.

I totally understand where you're coming from. Louisiana manages to combine two things I hate.Retarded white people and retarded black people.

White people who live in Louisiana seem to be happy and I'm guessing it's because most of them while in school never truly understood that they live in a state with enough of a racist past to write 3 or 4 encyclopedias.

While black people from Louisiana seem to be happy and I'm guessing it's because most of them didn't stay in school long enough to find out that their state has enough of a racist past to write 3 or 4 encyclopedia.

It's one of those states that can safely be referred to as a catch-22. You can't win with the whites. You can't win with the blacks. Why? Because neither of them understand what game you're playing.
