I actually welcome this development. For those who are against opening relations with Iran, I give you an example from history. Nixon opened up Russian and China, and Reagan pursued ties with both nations. The result was the downfall of Communism. The moral of that story is that, without the opening up of dialogue with a nation, whether it be Russia, China, or even Iran, there is no opportunity to change the system in that nation.
Kudos to Obama for taking the obvious path to the best chance to change things in Iran. Don't forget that Communism was once a much greater threat to America than radical Islam could ever hope to be, and it was beaten through opening doors and engagement. I have my problems with Obama, and feel that, in general, he is leading America down the wrong path in many areas. However, I must give credit where credit is due on his policy towards Iran.
Want to defeat radical Islam? It's not hard. Just engage them, and when they see our standard of living through the doors we are now opening, then radical Islam will go the way of Communism. We have done it before. We can do it again. America is still a beacon of light to the world. All that is necessary is for us to shine that light once more, as we have done in the past.
Thank you, Mr. President, and also thanks to Nixon and Reagan, who showed Obama the way.
