BBC World News said:
The UN Security Council is due to hold an emergency session on a controversial rocket launch by North Korea.

The US and EU said the launch demanded a strong response from the Security Council, but China and Russia have called for restraint.

North Korea said the rocket put a satellite into orbit but the US and South Korea disputed this, saying it was a cover for a missile test.

They said the launch failed, with parts of the rocket landing in the Pacific.

Hopefully whatever the outcome, North Korea will be crushed economically, even more so than now.

They've already crushed themselves economically. They subsist on aid that they get through nuclear blackmail. There are a lot of measures that can be taken outside of the UN, not that I think Obama has the balls to do it.

How the hell can it be crushed anymore economically? Something ridiculous like 1 million people die a year in that country due to starvation. North Korea doesn't need more sanctions it needs a new government, that isn't rogue and that is willing to feed its people.

Too bad we are a broke country now otherwise I would support a replay of Iraq in NKorea, Iran, etc.

Whats the UN going to do about it really? Write them a letter? Send a team to "investigate"?

That'll teach 'em.

The problem is that the generation that remembers war, treachery, and surprise attacks is dead or dying. The responses of the international community are unsurprising. All the tyrants came out in support of the DPRK while the free nations of the world denounced it. Surprise, surprise... Now we're all just going to disarm ourselves and live in peace and harmony. Lord help us all.

Remember Pearl Harbor.

Yes. The UN already said "Don't do it!"
All it can add to that is "We really mean it"
And then "This time we REALLY mean it"

Thsi will last until NK finally does launch a nuclear-tipped ICBM at the US -- and then, GWB will be blamed for not doing enough to stop it when he had a chance.

Stop all aid and let them starve.

Lol Cherokee your a legend.
Unfortunately our globalized world is dictated around PC policies, so the best chance of this happen is like zero.

The United Nations is alot like Obama.

Makes alot of noise but is completely irrelevant to all concerned.

To be more precise, the UN makes alot of noise but doesnt bother doing anything about it; even though its completely within there power. Obama doesnt want a third front opening up. The national debt is nearing 8 trillion and the next year will be very costly trying to get the economy back onto its feet and pulling the NATO boys out of Iraq wont be a cheap and dandy process either.

Yeah, Obama is much too concerned with social programs and destroying the free market to worry about essential government functions like defending our country and our allies...

Edit: Also, note that I am also opposed to opening a third front. Our military's not even designed for it and now is hardly the ideal time.

Dont forget taking out guns... after all, -that- will make us all safer.

North Korea launching a missile is Obama's fault. Oh yeah, I forgot you blame Obama for things that didn't even happen when he was in office.

North Korea has had this launch planned for over a year, so Bush should have pushed more sanctions when the time was right, before they launched it. Before they even had the launch pad set up.

Actually yes. In the past week over 20 people have died because of crazy people with assault rifles! And if the North Koreans invaded (Which even if they did, they wouldnt make it past Hawaii), we could fend them off with pitch forks, we don't need assault rifles. We are in more danger from crazy gunman with assault rifles, then a nuclear north Korea. So yes it will.
