Depends on the conflict... We could use any help we could get if we're forced into yet another war in the near future.

We have had help, but it has been at much of a level. We're usually alone relatively speaking.

I see that the propaganda has worked.
None of the shooters had an assault rifle.

We are in more danger from crazy gunman with assault rifles, then a nuclear north Korea.
    This is unsupportable.

I dont need to be opressed by them to agree or disagree with the fact that 60 years isnt much to go on. Democracies survive much longer then these shameful regimes.

They need us more then we need them nowadays Dave, that "we dont need European armed forces" talk is coming from a overly proud American that is blinded by his own patriotism. If this was the case they wouldnt be in NATO, or whining at us to fight a war we didnt start at every goddamn summit that involves the US that we are in also.

Ontop of that they have the balls to question the legitemacy of our forces. There was a time a European nation threatened the very existence of the American state aswell as others. On a general scale, our forces are no less capable then yours, especially when you look at the European army on a whole.

Re: UN to respond to Korea Rocket launch at emergency meeting

Most NATO(EU as well) nations are involved in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them UK, Netherlands, Ukraine, Canada, Italy, etc send reasonable numbers of troops that are used in both peacekeeping and active combat operations.

Problem is a minority of nations (France, Germany being the two big ones) send some troops but not enough and then restrict their usage to non-combat. They should risk expulsion.

Any European nation(NATO member) who does not meet its commitments to Afghanistan especially by allowing it troops to be used in combat should face expulsion from NATO.

NATO invoked Article 5 in response to 9/11. That action declared NATO at war with the Taliban and al Qaeda. SO its past time all member states fight the war they started or deemed fit to fight.

Re: UN to respond to Korea Rocket launch at emergency meeting

I'm not sure why we are talking about Afghanistan, but anyway...

The UN lacks the teeth to do anything against North Korea as long as China and Russia are opposed. Once again, the Security Council veto prevents any meaningful action. Likewise, there is no point in sanctioning NK further, since they are already at the lowest possible levels. The only thing they are now receiving from China is food and clothing. Their only domestic sources of electricity are outdated river dams, and China agrees to provide them with minimal fuel to power railroads that deliver food to outlying areas. They really don't have much else that we can take away, and the government there lives comfortably enough that they don't care how much their people suffer.

Even though NK violated UN law, I honestly don't think it poses a big threat to the world. Its technological prowice is relatively inept. It lacks the scientific and financial resources to develop any kind of meaningful weapons program that could pose a threat to the rest of Asia. Frankly, I don't believe China would sit by idly and let NK threaten neighbours that are an economic asset to the government in Beijing.
