We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
    - Joe Biden

Biden then said that we'd see that Obama has a "backbone of steel."
This has been asked, but you have yet to answer it. What do you think Obama should have done instead of what he is doing now in regards to the imminent NK Launch?

There are numerous other things, not the least of which is the statement that we -will- shoot down any missile that in on a track that endangers any part of the US or our allies. He could also resolve to eliminate NK ability to launch these missiles, should they continue along this track.

Remember that no one, especially you, has any idea what payload these bords carry.

Or is it merely that he can't open his mouth without you shooting criticism at him?
The shoe is on the other foot and you don't like it? Awww...

This is silly, linear thinking. If our intelligence community knows it poses no immediate threat, why risk a war that could potentially escalate huge proportions?

You don't know that. You have no idea what our intelligence community knows about the payload. The president does.

Hardly. This reaction is pathetic, and it would be pathetic regardless of who responded this way.

Of course, given that you cannot really counter anything that has been said here with anything containing actual substance, you have little choice but to respond in this manner.

What's more disturbing is that we have two American journalists being held hostage in NK and virtually nobody knows about it.

Know what? That the war could escalate? Or how do I know what the intelligence community knows? In regard to the former, it's obvious. In regard to the latter, I don't. All I'm saying is the president does. It's easy to say what you would or would not do as the president but the fact of the matter is that you are not the president and you do not have access to the intelligence community.

If this object is not a satellite, and is indeed a missile, I'd be coordinating with the Chinese to form a contingency plan should N.K. launch an offensive in retaliation for the shootdown. The PRC is in a unique position to be able to launch a devastating flank attack. N.K. wouldn't even know what hit them.

He cannot. He CAN know the best intel estimate, but he cannot -know- what's up there. Also, see below.

If I were the President, I'd be doing this anyway, based on the idea that we do not -know- what is on top of this missile.

Now, I DO think it is very unlikely that there is a nuclear warhead up there, but that's not really significant -- regardless of the payload, if it heads toward the US, it should be shot down, and it should be considered an event that justifies some degree of retalliation.
