YouTube - G20 summit protests turn violent

Once people start busting crap it's time for rational people to leave. If they don't they get what they deserve. The police can not sit by and allow a few people to destroy the city because the "herd" refuses to get the hell out of the way.

Get them out of an area where they were sitting and into another area where they will sit .. what brilliant logic
as long as they get to sit.....what does it matter where they sit?

All that becomes moot when the crowd starts destroying downtown. Once windows start breaking, businesses start getting destroyed, etc the police then have the right to come and bust up the assembly as it is no longer "peaceful" by any stretch of the imagination. There is no right to vandalize, loot, spray paint, etc. None. The police have an obligation to protect property owners from unlawful chaotic destruction. The protesters could come down hard on the anarchists and/or chaos lovers who see any and every protest as an opportunity to go hog wild with abandon but more often than not the protesters are seen cheering the goofs on and hiding/protecting the unlawful persons in their midst.

I don't trust them with batons, let alone tasters, gas and guns. They are much too immature with it. They'd probably overuse it
    And the result would be?

Man who died during G20 protest was walking home from work - Times Online

The Met said that as the officers tried to revive Mr Tomlinson they came under attack from protesters who threw bottles at them.
But as one peaceful protester helpfully explains the mob "didn't know what was happening," so it's ok.

“One or maybe two plastic bottles were thrown, but it was by people further back in the crowd who did not know what was going on.
This is why police don't treat out of control rioting mobs the same way they treat peaceful protesting. Since it's a fairly fine line your best bet is to get out of there when stuff starts breaking, bottles start getting thrown, etc.

Plastic bottles? thrown from the back of the crowd? ever try to throw an empty plastic bottle? they don't go far, and when they hit can barely be felt.
I bet the truth isn't being told about the bottles...

A mob is a large group of people with no brains engaged....
Maybe a few new lumps from batons will help them to act smarter next time...

Well nobody claimed they were empty. A full plastic bottle can do some decent damage when tossed right.

You show a photo of some violent thug smashing a peaceful, well-behaved window and then complain that the COPS are being vicious?

Was the bleeding broad a victim of the evil window, or the violent thug?
