Mired in violence, gun-strict Mexico points to U.S.

You know, I read this... and I wonder to meself.

If I could buy an ak47 that's full auto for $2-300 from the Russians... Why would I buy an ak47 from the United States that's semi-automatic and costs $1k ?

I also ask myself, where in the world in the united states are they getting Soviet / Chinese / whatever else nation's RPGs and handgrenades from here in the United States? Cause, honestly, I'd LOVE to own a few handgrenades, and some RPGs... Are they buying them at Sportsman's Warehouse? Maybe Cabellas?

Last time I was there, they didn't even have ammo... let alone explosives and select fire weapons. So, this makes me question, where are they really buying all these cool toys?

They're liars, plain & simple. The MSM and liberals are flat out liars.

They make stupid ass claims like the ones below, yet offer no details.

U.S. gun stores and gun shows are the source of more than 90 percent of the weapons being used by Mexico's ruthless drug cartels,

But U.S. efforts to stop the smuggling of tens of thousands of guns to Mexico, including high-powered assault weapons, have been hampered by lenient American gun laws and the Bush administration's failure to give priority to anti-gun smuggling efforts, officials tell ABC News for a report Tuesday on ABC News' "World News With Charles Gibson."

U.S. Guns Arming Mexican Drug Gangs; Second Amendment to Blame? - ABC News

Which gun shows, which gun stores? If they know for certain, then why haven't the store owners and the gun show organizers been investigated, charged or prosecuted?

Suspiciously void of details the liberals are. It's the same old "blame America first" crowd applying their stupidity to a yet another issue.

Uhmm they were reporting what President Felipe Calderon of Mexico and the U.S. State Department said:

President Calderon:

"Let me express to you that we've seized in this two years more than 25,000 weapons and guns, and more than 90 percent of them came from United States, and I'm talking from missiles launchers to machine guns and grenades."

The U.S. State Department said on Friday that U.S.-purchased or stolen weapons account for 95 percent of Mexico's drug related killings, and that Mexican cartels are increasingly carrying out contract killings in the U.S.

Mexico: U.S. Must Stop Gun Trade At Border - CBS News

How does reporting what others said make the media liars?

This is the third time I've seen a story like this pop up.

Its all part of The Obama's desure to ban 'assault weapons'.

As noted before, having to use crime in mexico as a justification for such a ban clearly illustrates the degree of desperation involved on the side that wants the ban.

Agreed. They keep saying "tens of thousands of guns traced back to gun dealers/shows in America", yet they show no proof to substantiate such claims.

You're spot on when you state "degree of desperation".

It doesn't, it's make them amateurs.

It doesn't, it's make them amateurs.
Well...
Reporting what they said doesn't necessarily make them amateurs.
Taking what they said as the truth, without questioning ot or checking it out?
THAT makes them amateurs.

I'm thinking the title says a lot: "GUN STRICT MEXICO mired in violence".

In Mexico, if an ordinary citizen gets caught with a gun, his butt is in serious trouble.

Yet, their crime rate has always been very high, and is approaching Mogadishu levels in some areas.

Drugs are illegal in the USA. So are illegal aliens. We have kilotons of the former and millions of the latter. Yeah, so obviously cracking down on legal US dealers will help violence in Mexico.

All gun control EVER means is that ordinary law-abiding citizens are deprived of arms. Criminals always get theirs somewhere, because where there is money to be made someone will supply that demand.

G.

edited to add: el Presidente Felipe Calderon of Mexico, can kiss my Rebel @**. He needs to put his own house in order, including dealing with the endemic poverty that causes mass illegal immigration, before he goes pointing any fingers.

Actually that's what I meant. I wish I could get paid lots of money for merely reporting what someone said.

Proof that gun control is bull****.

Just curious but do you have any evidence to the contrary of what was reported?

Aside from the fact that having or not having evidence to the contrary in no way changes the vaility of my post...

Its their claim, and so its not for ME to disprove them.

It IS, however, for the press to VERIFY them.

Oh okay I see:roll:

You see... the uselessness of your question?
Good. I was hoping that would be the case.

No I see you are just basically pulling stuff out of your rear end.

How, exactly, is that?

Is it NOT the job of the press to verify the claims of those they cover?

If Mexico is so gun strict, how is that the cartels are so well armed?

I'd say a State Department report qualifies.

So what. Are people selling guns illegally? (US LAW) if so prosecute them.

But to suggest we need to restrict the constitutional rights of Americans because of thier problem is asinine.

They buy weapons in the US and smuggle them to Mexico.

And if they weren't buying them here, it'd be from some other place. The issue here is not that Mexican cartels are getting their guns from the US, it's that the Mexican Cartels are easily able to circumvent the Mexican Gun control laws, while law abiding citizens cannot.

By disarming the populous, they only serve to strengthen the cartels.
