Republicans Disinvite Palin to Major Fundraiser

This is ***Breaking News***

Damn right wingers always bringing up Palin!

Disinvited seems a strong word for what actually happened. no?

I dunno, Fox News ran it. Inviting her, confirming her, then saying you are going a different direction...I think disinviting her is being kind.

Sweet mother of God...they were bringing him in with "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor. Seriously, this is not a good image for the CPAC/GOP. Out of touch cornballs.

EDIT: Watching that thing makes me hope the GOP realizes just how filled with hot air he really is. Who is he talking to here? Liberals? Because all he's doing in this speech is rambling about how bad the Dems are and not even bothering to talk about what the Republicans are going to do better. Oh and he's bashing George W. Bush. Talking about how bad the Bush administration was. In fact all he seems to say is "let's talk about it." Just fairly ambiguous references to ideas they have but no real explanation of how they would implement them. How is this any different than the past? How is this any indication of the GOP's plan for fixing problems?

Blah blah blah.

Nah, the GOP still believes Noot is revered by their supporters. That may be true, but only because the Americans that used to support them got tired of Noot's incompetency as a leader and left the Republicans out to hang.

Then again, the GOP is still fairly convinced that it's electoral problems are caused by it's failure to move far enough to the left.

Well, we'll see what's up in 18 months, when the Messiah, with all his massive inexperience and callowness, have wreaked havoc on the nation.

I'm not sure of that, the neocon types are overly religious and favor big government policies.

I'm not really fond of them. Goldwater 4vr!
Who the hell are you to decide who is overly religious? Okay fine, then Obama, Reid and Pelosi are overly communist.

When did she accept the invitation?

Well according to Brian Walsh of the NRSC they had confirmation from her staff because they had went all the way to the point of issuing press releases telling of her being selected to be the key note speaker. However Palin's staff later told the NRSC and the NRCC they could not commit the event to the governors calender until the end of the legislative season in Alaska. The NRSC and NRCC decided they weren't going to wait that long for her to officially commit and pulled in Gingrich.

NRSC: We would like to invite Sarah Palin to be the key speaker at the fund raiser.
Palin Staff: Oh that's WONDERFUL! She would be thrilled to do this!
NRSC: Great, we'll book it.
Palin Staff: Totally awesome!
Palin Staff after talking to Palin: Well can we get back with you on this after legislative session is over up here...kinda busy you know?
NRSC: Ummm...what?
Palin Staff: Yeah, we just need some time to make sure we can actually do this.
NRSC: Hang on a sec.
NRSC: You know on second thought, don't worry about it...you guys are obviously busy. We're gonna go a different direction so don't worry about being here.
Palin Staff: Oh, well okay...but hey, we never said we would actually be there.
NRSC: Yeah okay...hey gotta go, Newt is on the phone.

She didn't decline, she was disinvited. And it's not a good thing for her.

Guess who's not coming for dinner.
The NRSC and the NRCC were under the distinct impression that Palin would headline the annual fundraising dinner. The committees went so far as to issue a joint press release trumpeting her appearance and national news outlets quickly noted her prime speaking engagement. Palin’s PAC indicated to the committees that she would attend.

But the governor’s office later said that it had not put the event on the schedule. Three people close to planning for the dinner said Palin’s aides proceeded to hem and haw about the appearance, both publicly and privately, leading the committees to decide to replace her because they were nearing a deadline to send invitations and other fundraising materials to their donors.

“After initially confirming her attendance, Governor Palin’s team informed the committees that her gubernatorial responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing until the end of the legislative session,” NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh said. “We completely understand and respect Governor Palin’s focus on her official state business.”

But the NRSC spokesman went out to point out that “there is obviously an enormous amount of planning that goes into this annual event. For that reason, we invited and are honored to have former Speaker Newt Gingrich join us as our speaker at the 2009 Senate-House Dinner.”

That's alright, the GOP will be back around when they figure out that their current **** isn't working.

The Associated Press: Palin out as headliner for GOP dinner

"Enthusiasm during a scheduling meeting among SarahPAC members to discuss events that we thought the governor should consider attending was misinterpreted as a confirmation of attendance," Stapleton said in an e-mail.

So much for that.

Yeah right. Misinterpreted enthusiasm.

NRSC: "Hey those guys are really excited about this...I think we should do joint press releases announcing her attendance without any confirmation whatsoever!"
NRCC: "Count me in bro! She's gonna love this!"

Doesn't fly. Especially when Walsh and others indicated there was initial confirmation from Palin's staff. Her people are making excuses because this gaffe and the fallout looks bad on her. It's called damage control.

:roll::roll::roll:

you mean this walsh from the same article:

"A spokesman for the Senate GOP committee, Brian Walsh, said Palin's team informed the campaign committees that her responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing to the speech until the end of the legislative session.

Come now. This is nothing but a partisan no issue attack a former vice presidential candidate thread.

Oh of course that's all it is, a non issue. Didn't you say at one time you'd have voted for Palin? Nothing more than your partisan response in calling this a non-issue. Clearly it signals another shift away from the Alaskan governor as a viable choice for a top leadership spot in the GOP.

As I already pointed out, this is damage control and Walsh was on message trying to spin this into something less than it actually was. It blew up and got messy in the media. The real point in Walsh's statement as it applies to the argument here is that he stated that the appearance was confirmed by Palin's staff. Confirmed. The time line that's been reported clearly show there was consensus that her appearance was going to happen. Then the story changed, it got a bit messy, and the clean up operation had to start.

You're trying to take one part of a bigger statement and use it to dismiss the whole issue. It's not working.

:rofl

I still would. I think that she as a true outsider would break the same old crap we are in now.

You are choosing to believe the side that makes you more happy, even though both sides are saying something else. Your prerogative, but to think that this is anything other than yet another bash palin thread is missing the reality.

Sarah Palin refused to take any of the federal bailout money. Coincidence?

Who the hell are you to decide who is overly religious? Okay fine, then Obama, Reid and Pelosi are overly communist.

I'm certainly a decider in who is and isn't overly religious, especially when it comes to slathering it all over our government and its policies.

Whatever, I don't like Obama, Reid or Pelosi so call them what you will.

I still would. I think that she as a true outsider would break the same old crap we are in now.
Articulate how she would actually do that.

Yes, because it points out another slip down the slope for her as her importance in the GOP is reduced yet again. This is hardly a non-issue when it comes to the point of serious Republican backing for Sarah Palin regarding a future run at President or consideration as a VP candidate. Senior Republican leadership and their big supporters will not get behind her. Not anymore.

That's only a non-issue to people who are trying to deny the reality or people who don't really pay attention to the actual mechanisms of running for higher political offices. She'll get support when she runs for governor again, but if she thinks she's going to ever be a candidate for the Presidency she's delusional. And this incident just confirms this.

Well that's just special. It'll simply be reallocated to other programs then. Her constituents should be proud.

Articulate how she would actually do that.

Naah.... I have in past threads. She is really a non-factor now.

I think you are kinda right. I think she peaked during the election, but now, they are moving on.... It happens.

I like her, but hey that's just me.

I think you are seeing what you want in this "issue". Quite frankly you all on the left can't seem to let this vice presidential candidate go.

Did she say she wants to be president? I don't recall that.

The more the liberals post, the more they confirm my original post:

GottaHurt said:
Mention Palin and the rabid left goes off, chasing their tails and sniffing each others butts. I laugh as I watch the slapnuts on the left reassure themselves that she's not a threat.

Oh, I'm sure you do laugh. I laughed when I watched McCain's answer on Meet the Press on Sunday as to whether he would support his running mate in 2012.

I'm laughing at McCain too, he's a RINO.

That's an absolutely ridiculous statement. It was ridiculous when it was being slung around during the campaign. Nobody on the left is afraid of this woman, quite the contrary. It actually appears as if the right is afraid of her in some way. And they should be. If they ever want to retake the White House and Congress, they better get on the stick and start pushing people that are a little more viable than Sarah Palin.

Then she wouldn't be such a target.

Not really. That may be your perception, but it's not reality.

He's the **** end of the stick and unlikely to be able to dig himself out of the mess he has created.

What the hell does this even mean?

Means he's mixed race but in order to make a catchy slogan he and his campaign lied about being black.

What I saw were stories about how she was "disinvited" and then later stories that appear to be the result of the GOP getting "on message" and now saying it was a scheduling snafu. It was FOX News who ran with it as a "disinvite" citing committee complaints about her actions, and stating they were "going in a different direction." What happened was this thing blew up in her face, looked bad, and then someone told everyone to shut up and get on message.

What happened was a reporter made a mountain out of a scheduling mess.

All stuff like this says to me is the left is very very afraid of Sarah Palin.
I am afraid of Sarah Palin... Afraid of her running this country further into the ground.
