Iran offers to help US rebuild Afghanistan

After Obama's speech to all of Iran about reconciling differences, it would be foolish to reject this offer.

It was foolish for Obama to send that video in the first place. The Iranians now know we lost our backbone on January 20th, theyre going to exploit our weakness.

Right-wing hysterics (on top of far left wing hysterics) need to stop, we need to focus on the serious issues and not just the partisan bickering.

This isnt a serious issue to you? The country that trained insurgents inside their borders, armed them with EFPs and sent them into Iraq to kill Americans wants to help us in Afghanistan. Does that make any sense? Do you believe that Obamas feel good video to the Iranians made everything all better?

I don't really see how Afghani Sunnis continuing to hate Iranian Shiites is bad for the US.
 
This would be my response to Iran:

Dear Iran,

Firstly, I would like to warmly thank you for the opportunity our nation-states have to work together. I will grant pardon for all your infractions against civility, all your deceit when it comes to nuclear armament, and that one little incident back in the 70s-ish where you sorta took some Americans hostage.. yeah that is forgiven too.
But! Before we offer you a contract on which to help rebuild (or, quite simply you intentions of engulfing more of the middle-east into your theocratic sphere of influence.. etc.) Afghanistan, we are going to have to kindly ask you to get rid of your CEO. He can "step aside"

As another poster has said Afghani Sunni's versus Iranian Shiites
Initially when the USA decided to back certain elements (albeit Tribal) within Afghanistan, against their struggle with the Taliban (Sunni extremist Wahabi sect) Government, Iran was very much on the side of the US.
With a long border that Iran has with Afghanistan it would have been absurdly facile for Iran to have backed Afghani insurgency against the USA.
This has not occurred.
One should try to understand ALL the strands that make up the policies of Nations that are against both US and West in general as opposed to policies that are very much in favor.
It is in the interests of Russia/Iran/US/West in general that Afghanistan becomes and remains a stable nation under a NON Taliban Government.
Sunni Wahabism is a branch of Islam that advocates growth by force.
