(03-25) 20:36 PDT Oakland -- About 60 people marched and rallied in Oakland on Wednesday to condemn the police and honor Lovelle Mixon, who was killed by Oakland police after he fatally shot four officers Saturday.

"OPD you can't hide - we charge you with genocide," chanted the demonstrators as they marched along MacArthur Boulevard, near the intersection with 74th Avenue where Mixon, 26, a fugitive parolee, gunned down two motorcycle officers who had pulled him over in a traffic stop. He killed two more officers who tried to capture him where he was hiding in his sister's apartment nearby.

Dozens march for Mixon, against police

Sometimes, I resent the fact that we can't have a Tiannemen square-style beatdown here. If it was me in charge, I'd say **** it. Clean up Oakland once and for all.

I am no huge fan of the police in many instances, but this is disgusting.

(note: the vigil for remembrance of the officers drew a much larger group)

This march and marchers are zeroes.

Absolutely disgusting wrong headed stupidity.

I think the best solution is to let them have what they want. Pull the police out of Oakland, and let them all kill each other.

Most Oakland residents do not agree with these marchers but way too many do.

East Oakland parents and a school principal said Wednesday they didn't know a 12-year-old girl was raped in their neighborhood until they heard about it on the nightly news six weeks later when the suspected rapist shot and killed four police officers.

They want to know why.

The girl was assaulted at gunpoint before school on Feb. 5 after being dragged off the street in the 2600 block of 74th Avenue, investigators said. It is the same neighborhood where five other rapes have been reported in recent months.

According to police, parolee Lovelle Mixon was linked to the 12-year-old girl's rape through DNA on Friday, the day before he killed the four Oakland police officers and was himself killed by responding officers. The DNA match was announced Monday as investigators tried to sort out causes for the violence.

Community wasn't told of Oakland girl's rape

The prick raped a 12 year old girl.

And you KNOW that to the people marching, this is just a setup.

Yes, I do:

Lolo Darnell, one of Mixon's cousins at the demonstration, said, "He needs sympathy too. If he's a criminal, everybody's a criminal."

Asked about police allegations that Mixon was suspected in several rapes, including that of a 12-year-old girl, marcher Mandingo Hayes said, "He wasn't a rapist. I don't believe that."

Lolo: Don't compare 'everyone' to your cousin. I'm offended.

Mandingo: Nobody cares what you believe. Lots of moms can't believe what their murderer sons have done.

Agreed, and it really is too bad. My sister goes to school a few blocks from were the shootings occurred, and she can't even walk down the street at night.
