Whether or not Mixon shot the cops because of the BART incident will probably never be known. But it's obvious that the BART incident is weighing heavily on the minds of the black people in Oakland.
Officials said the suspect was on parole after being convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and was also wanted on a no-bail warrant. Officials did not explain the nature of the warrant.

Huh. Apparently, this is also one of the rare cases of a crime being committed with an assault rifle.

I'll say a prayer for them tonight. Reckon if they didn't already have plans for the afterlife, they've earned their seats in Valhalla.

See I love my Glocks (my current weapon of choice) because the trigger pull is so consistent from shot to shot. I have carried a 1911 (for years it was my weapon of choice as a cop), Beretta M9 (as an MP), and SIG (for a short time as a personal off duty weapon). Of all these pistols I would take a 1911 over a Glock, but I just hate carrying that thing cocked and locked for some reason anymore (and I won't carry it in half-cock or hammer down). The 1911 was just so easy to shoot and quite accurate, I loved it. But the first shot trigger pull of the Beretta and the SIG was just too long for me (the double action mode) and the follow up shots always had a just smidge of play in the trigger pull. The Glocks however are consistent from first to last shot. No safety, but I don't really care about that. I have become very proficient with my Glocks.

Anti-gun folks are going to quietly pick up on this I bet.

Yea, I read the articles. The question posed was why this incident was being connected to the BART incident on New Years eve.

My response was we won't really know, but given the current mindset of the black community in Oakland, it's not unreasonable to understand their fears when dealing with the cops in Oakland right now.

Anyone else notice the irony of a poster named "BulletwounD" posting this thread?

Hell, I'm a white man living in Wyoming and I've got more than a healthy share of apprehension in dealing with the police. They always keep their hands just a little too close to their gunbelt for my comfort when speaking with me.

When I carry, it is either my full sized kimber, or my compact kimber. "Cocked and locked" IMO is much safer than the glock's trigger safety. what that cop did, i posted numerous videos of others doing the same mistake. I can dig up the old thread if you want.

don't ever carry a 1911 "half cocked" bad for the gun, bad for safety. Don't carry one in the chamber with the hammer down, big no no.

long to short, carry what your comfortable with, me personally would never own a glock. Some people swear by them.

    Dig it up please.

I was trained not to have my finger on the trigger at all unless I planned to shoot and furthermore I was trained not to point a gun at anybody I wasn't prepared to shoot. I don't know how this compares to police training, but notice the officer is not holding his gun with two hands like a trained police officer but with one hand like a street thug.

All true, however we are human and we make mistakes. the glock has no positive safety, therefore mistakes are more costly.

    i will dig it up.
