Does this mean that the Pope condones non-sexual violence against women?

    Don't forget Joe's Crab Shack.

I have had real sea food from the coasts. It is good. Here in the midwest, not as good, unless you catch your own fresh fish, but it's different fish.
Hey, I grew up eating in lobster houses where you could actualy see them pulling the lobster from the wharf directly into the restaurant.

In the sermon he went on to say that the 7 devils represented the 7 capital sins she was guilty of. Her reputation as a whore is traced back to Gregory and essentially blamed on Pope Gregory by every source I've looked at. The "sinner" part would not have made a whore. We're all sinners. It was the 7 capital sins part that was so slanderous. Not only did Pope Gregory morph 2 different Marys into one person he went a step further and amped up the story by equating the casting out of 7 demons as confirmation of the presence of 7 capital/deadly sins. He then went through and listed them making Mary guilty of pride, avarice, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, and sloth or acedia, ". From Gregory's sermon on her reputation was forever tarnished and not corrected by the church till a long while later. She was celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church for being a penitent all the way up until 1969 when revisions were finally made Roman Missal and Mary was no longer the woman who reformed herself after committing the 7 deadly sins.
Do you actually have a source that Pope Gregory referred to her as a whore? - you made the initial claim. Fact is, the Pope did NOT refer to her as a "whore", he referred to her as a sinner (which we ALL are.) You can't back up the initial claim. Your bigoted hatred for the Church and inability to stick to the facts is noted.

    My bad.
I also think the sexism is not "the Church," but rather the result of some people in the Church--but thank you for the apology.

We'll probably have to agree to disagree then. And that's OK if we disagree. I think it is institutionally sexist. I would like to hear you specifically tell me what differences make women unsuitable for Priesthood.

I mean seriously, you are like The Madre of DebatePolitics. This isn't a knock on Ludahai because he knows his stuff too. You definitely have done your homework. You testify more than anyone else here at DP. In fact, I would go so far as to say that not one man here is more knowledgeable about the Catholic Church than you are.

This thread has the links to the documents specifically explain in grand detail why men are the only ones suited for the priesthood theologically, but I suppose I could do a St. Cliff's Notes on it. I'll see what I can compile.

I would appreciate it. There is some very lengthy material you have linked to that I really don't have the time to sift through.

I thought she already did? Wasn't it something about how women are receptive by nature? Which can basically be paraphrased," Women have a vagina and not a penis." An opening for receiving and not a phallus for entering. They're made so you can stick it to them, they can't stick it to you. You know the Floyd song, "How can you have any pudding when you don't eat your meat?" It's like that only, "How can you be a priest when you don't have a penis! You can't be a priest when you don't have a penis. "
