Both Leno and this guy have the same damn message, are popular pop culture references and offer an entertaining way to promote new products.

Should the president go on television and talk to the Shamwow guy about his free throw shot or how AIG is such a **** up?

Of course not, and this is why going on Leno is such a terrible thing and why it shouldn't be perpetuated as ok or modern idea.

The American people have failed? Shamwow? Such dramatics Is this really what bothers you so much? The degree of distaste you have of this is disproportionate to its required criticism.

It's more so similar to Obama appearing on a radio morning show that does comedy while hosting guests, which politicians have done for ages as well. I, for one, am perfectly accepting of a high stature politician appearing on The Daily Show or the Colbert Report. I think they are of higher quality writing than Leno's staff, but it's nearly the same idea, isn't it? Are you that out of touch or that cranky that you can't relax for a few minutes?

Oh, and when John King interviewed Dick Cheney, he gave him a hard time and questioned him in a substantive way? Answer honestly because based on my watching the interview, the answer is no, he did neither.

It would be one thing if Obama were limiting his interviews to Jay Leno, David Letterman, etc. But he's not.

I don't recall your criticizing Bush while he stayed at his Crawford ranch while Louisana drowned, or went on vacation more than any other president, while putting troops in harm's way.

During the campaign, I thought I might have counted 3-4 times that were big. Comparatively, it was small in proportion, but much larger than one would be used to normally. Again, I thought it was interesting, considering that disability rights aren't really of concern to the American populous.

It wasn't disability rights. Choosing to deliver and keep a child with Down's Syndrome is essentially the strongest pro-life statement an American politician can make.

You hit the nail on the head, I would be fine with them going on Colbert's or daily show also. Those shows are made by there networks to promote things, to be sellouts for the network. You will never see Colbert whore himself out for MTV, Cartoon network or other comedy central shows, which own all those networks are owned by Viacom.

It's not the same, Leno and Letterman are whores to the networks, and run different shows than Colbert or Stewart. The only people you see come on Colbert's shows are yes actors who usually aren't promoting anything but most of the time are writers of very good books that need to be read.

On paper they look like the same animal, but comparing Letterman to Stewart or Leno to Colbert is like comparing a cat to a dog. The president will not go on any viacom programming because they do not have any shows on basic television. The people who own NBC and ABC have the monopoly over those channels.

The mistake Obama made was going on Leno in the first place. Had he not tried to score some points with the mindless neanderthals of this country (the main purpose behind going on the show) by going on Leno in the first place, this would be a non-issue as it wouldn't have happened. The timing and the format was uncalled for as the leader of the free world. It seems to me that if Obama worked half as hard looking Presidential as he does trying to score PR points with the brain dead in this country, half the threads on this board wouldn't exist.

Just two examples of what I'm talking about are the Leno appearance and his NCAA Tournament picks. WTF does this have to do with being the POTUS? That's right - absolutely nothing! He's not campaigning anymore, he won. He needs to stop with the theatrics and focus on the job at hand. The next Presidential election is more than 3 1/2 years away, save this bull**** for then, not now. We don't need this kind of crap at this point in our history, we need a leader. Despite my ideological differences, he needs to act like the person he is supposed to be. And for the record, I'd have a big problem with this no matter who it is in the WH, so don't think I'm just picking on Obama because that couldn't be any further from the truth.

Very good post. I agree with you - he can't be real - so he just tries to appeal to every common demoninator out there. I was s-o-o-o-o disappointed he didn't perform on jaywalk all stars!

Well said. And now he is going on prime time....again tonight.... to tell us he knows why we are upset about AIG but in the bigger scheme of things we do not really need to let it concern us. Pure bull**** and classic CYA!
