Re: Alaska Gov. Palin's Daughter, Fiance Break Up

Frankly, I'm saddened by this news. I dunno. How much will the father be involved in this kid's life? I am sure Bristol's son will get lots of love and attention from the Palin family, but I can't help but think that if the papa isn't around, that it will have some type of negative impact on their son.

Hopefully they'll still work together to raise their child.

The left cares deeply. Because by attacking Palin and her family, they hope to rally her GOP fans around her and keep her in the spotlight.

Palin has a number of admirable qualities. But she is not presidential material. Never will be. The Democrats will benefit if she runs for national office in the future. So they care very much about all of this.

I really hope so. I just have a hard time thinking that someone as young as the father will make a genuine effort, but maybe his parents will force him to. *crosses fingers*

And why does your tone suggest that you do not care about children?

No, they absolutely aren't. They CAN be but they are not by some great cosmic rule automatically destined to fail, be bad, or not work out. Two 19 year olds getting married and having a kid that truly do love each other and both truly want a family are likely to be far better off than two 28 year olds that end up getting married cause ones afraid they won't find someone else and one just wants to have a kid no matter what. Age is not an "absolute" determination of whether a marriage or having a child is a bad thing or not.

You know what, being immersed in water isn't an absolute determination of whether or not you'll drown, I mean hey, you could be taking a shower, so lets all walk into the ocean.

It is a fact that if you get married young you have a lower chance of it working out. It is a FACT that if you have children when you're young you'll have a dramatically higher chance of being in poverty.

If your 17, you should NOT get married or have a child. It doesn't matter that you REALLY love him or that Jesus lets you know that it's true- it's a stupid idea.

You can't quantify whether or not people are in love or not but you CAN quantify the income difference between someone who finished school and someone who dropped out to take care of a child and you can quantify how difficult it is to do both.

The correct age to have a child is the early 30s after you've completed your education. It's the best for you and and it's the best for your child.

You know who has children early in life? WHITE TRASH, like Palin's family, because they couldn't control their urges well enough to put it off until they were ready.

That's an issue with the medical board, not us. Still not our business. The welfare thing, well we have welfare and sometimes this happens. Side effect of having that institution. We have no business in dictating how many children someone has. Her life isn't our concern. When it comes down to it, there may be some question of ethics with the doctor, but that's the medical boards **** to deal with. There may be concern with finances, but that's the mother's **** to deal with. There may be some concern with use of public funds; but we've set up this state of welfare and so long as she plays by the rules of it then that's that. I think we lose way more money to politicians and their corruption than we'll lose to this woman and her using welfare. None of it's really our business in the end. Like why the hell are we so crazy about all this that octomom actually needs a body guard?

I think part of the problem of this country is that we've forgotten how to keep our noses out of other people's business. Now it's a business in and of itself. Paparazzi and all sorts of other things letting us know who is doing what so we can condemn and feel a little better about ourselves. I find the whole of it rather sickening.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

I'm as much of a proponent of h8ing on white trash as you, but there are plenty of situations where getting married "young" isn't that bad. My cousin and his girlfriend started dating when they were 12 or 13 and got married at 21. Neither one was planning on going to college, but they both have decent jobs. Now they own their own house and are planning on having kids in the near future. They're in a much better position financially and socially than most of the 27 year olds I know who are finishing their masters in whatever the ****, are on match.com looking for a soulmate, are living in the "nice" part of Bushwick and are trying to pay off their 150k in loans with their 50k salary at their job in "advertising."

The fact that younger people are statistically more likely to get divorced/end up in poverty doesn't mean that it's always a bad idea.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
