Luton Protests: Two Arrested As Muslim Anti-War Demo Targets Parading British Soldiers | UK News | Sky News

A group of Muslim protesters, who were hemmed in by police as the soldiers marched past, waved placards with slogans including: "Anglian Soldiers: Butchers of Basra" and "Anglian Soldiers: cowards, killers, extremists".

One also read: "British Government Terrorist Government."

A number of people staged a counter-demonstration, which is when the trouble began.

Bedfordshire Police confirmed two people were arrested for public order offences and taken to Luton Police Station.

Superintendent Andy Martin said: "Disappointingly, a small number of people chose to cause a disturbance during the parade, which was quickly contained by officers.

Why dont these people just **** off no loyalty no respect.

I'm assuming the placards meant to say "Anglican" right?

Anyway this is pathetic, on both sides. Is there not hope when is comes to demos and counter-demos?

No i think you should respect the troops who have been out risking their lives to fight.

I should have been more specific. When I say both sides I meant the original demonstrators and the counter-demonstrators.

Nah because it would anger me if a saw people shouting murderers at the troops as they came past.

I applaud the counter-demonstrators...
All of the Muslims should be sent back to head camels in the desert..
We should have saved Saddam Hussein, return the Islamics to him in his little country, a penal colony...

As disgusted as i was by these protests, i would not advocate preventing the freedom to protest.

I am very happy there were counter protests. Look, laugh and move on.

Why can't these Muslims go defend Iraq and Afghanistan from terrorists OR troops? I don't get it. Protesting doesn't do poo.
Purrs,
Pookie

It was to get interest and publicity and they got it hands down.

If they feel so strongly against this, go fight US/UK troops. I'm sure they have spare bullets for them :/

When my Brother came back from his tour, i went to his parade and if someone was waving that banner. I would have punched them personally

East Anglia is a large part of England. I'm going to assume it means that.

Europe and Russia have an abundance of Muslims. There is a growing fascist movement in Russia to employ a "solution" to the "Muslim problem". The Russian government is permitting this movement to expand. Europe on the other hand will probably simply tolerate them as long as possible.

The government says fight for your country, the soldiers do it. Regardless whether or not the government is right or wrong. They just fight. Cant British muslims respect that much at least? That these soldiers fought for there country, and risked there lives, whether or not the cause (in there opinion) was just or not? Soldiers fight with blind faith. One day the government will call apon these soldiers again to defend or fight for Britain, if they spent there time bickering and not fighting because they fought the war was not just then we'd be screwed.
Hold banners and protest at number 10 and say the war is wrong all you like, but dont hassle the soldiers; if anything, thank them for fighting for us.

Secondly these muslims are total hypocrits calling the British government a terrorist government when they where fighting a dictatorship regime in Iraq to topple it. These people dont think, they just get there backs up everytime a christian country attacks a muslim country and make our the christians are out to enslave the muslim people. Get off it for god sakes, i know tonnes of muslims, ive also nearly killed a few i fustration of there pointless biased views.

Yeah right, like that was the reason for the invasion.

It was not to better the lives of nobody, it was to serve the interest of US and UK but i agree that some Muslims only seem to care when it's nations who are christian.

Many British Muslims do respect that, it is merely a minority who choose to abuse the freedoms given to them under democracy.

While I don't condone their behavior and do find it absurdly disgusting I have to ask, who cares? Surely you can't expect everyone to share views on something like a war. Why even let the detractors bother you? I would think that the cheers of support and love would far outweigh the negative protesting. The reality of freedom of expression is that there bound to be people who will say things that you find completely disgusting and appalling.

There were many reasons for the invasion, this was among them regardless of your apparent contempt for it.

It was not to better the lives of nobody

A double negative, can I assume that this makes a positive, therefore it WAS to better their lives? Seriously, can you really think that anyone prefers the fear under a dictator like Saddam is happy under that kind of rule?

it was to serve the interest of US and UK

And what in the heck is wrong with that? Should we never act in our interests?

but i agree that some Muslims only seem to care when it's nations who are christian.

That is because it is a war, we didn't ask for this, but we will not shirk from it either.

No, i am just not gullible.
We risked our soldiers for nothing - Yeah right.

Oh please, Afghanistan no one asked for. Iraq we asked for.

I agree that the Iraq war was a mistake....GWB was out to restore his daddy's honor, the first Bush to screw up. Bush1 should have completed the war by taking out Saddam, but he backed off.

The real target, IMO, should have been SA, the country that supplied nearly all the terrorists, and the blatantly terrorist teachings in the madrassas. We should have sent ONE cruise missle a day into SA military targets until they paid, in cash or oil, for all the costs incurred from 9/11.....
If we run out of military targets, the Saudi royalty has quite a few castles that would make fun targets.

I am not the biggest fan of Saudi Arabia but US has no right demanding they take responsibility for 13 crazy people on a plane knocking down a building

How's that? Could you explain?

j-mac

We should not have touched Iraq.
Afghanistan should have been our main target but nooo, US and UK attacked Saddam who's enemy was Bin Laden and took down a regime which controlled Extremists by killing them :|

We should not have touched Iraq.

And how long should Saddam been allowed to skirt the UN mandates on him? Until he successfully got them lifted and pursued his goals? Why was it ok in your mind for Saddam to break international law unchecked, and not ok for anyone else?

Afghanistan should have been our main target but nooo

On that point we have some agreement.

No, they took down threats to their own power by killing them. Extremists were just fine if they were in agreement with Saddam and his goals. Remember the enemy of my enemy is my friend. ;)

what if 13 (wasn't it more?) crazy americans took out equivalent structures in SA?
