FOXNews.com - Florida Woman Calls 911 After McDonald's Runs Out of McNuggets - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

Give me a break! Yes, they should have refunded her money, but calling 911 once, let alone three times? This is the type of mentality we are creating here in America. "If I can't do it myself, I'll just rely on the government to do it for me." I hope they give her the maximum sentence for misusing 911. Hopefully this will be a lesson to others. I also hope the McDonald's manager is punished as well (by her manager, not the law). The way that was handled was piss poor and there is no excuse for it.

Well, this is stealing, so it's perfectly legitimate (at least as far as I know - I don't know if she's being charged for calling or for calling three times) for her to call 911 to report the fact that someone stole money from her (although it would have made a lot more sense to call the nonemergency number). However calling 911 three times about it is pretty ridiculous.

Also, that cashier and manager were clearly being dicks. First, McDonald's doesn't have an "all sales are final" policy. If you buy some food and it's bad, for example (for whatever reason), you can usually get it exchanged or get a full refund. The ease to which McDonald's will go to please customers is pretty well-known and abused somewhat regularly.

Second, even if they did have such a policy it wouldn't matter in this instance, as there was no sale to begin with. For there to be a sale there would have had to be a transaction; since they didn't give her the McNuggets there was no transaction.

Anyways, she got more than a refund anyways, and is being charged with misuse of 911, so this story turned out good in both instances.

:rofl

Here's the transcript:

"This is an emergency, if I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one, this is an emergency!"

Maybe it's a legitimate complaint, but an emergency? Not so much.

Stupid, ok.

But I think I was the only person on the planet that thought the spilled hot coffee lawsuit against McDonalds was legitimate.

McDonald's coffee used to be served at the boiling point. You can't be passing boiling liquids to people through their car windows. That woman won her case.

And now you can get coffee at McDonalds without having to put 5 cubes of ice in it

If I remember right, it was not spilled on her as they passed it through the window. The stupid bitch put it between her legs and drove away.

If you had a problem with the temp of their coffee, why didn't you just not buy coffee from them?

I don't know I think that McDonalds was partially responsible in that case and I do think that it is not the best example for people to constantly bring up when talking about frivolous lawsuits.

I had a similar experience about 20 years ago, but didn't call 911. I was shorted a big mac in my order, and did not catch it until I had walked away and was about to go out the door, which was about 5 seconds. I went back to the counter and pointed out that I had been shorted a big mac, and the counter person told me that I must have eaten one. I asked for the manager, and he gave me the big mac I was shorted.

If I had eaten that big mac in 5 seconds, as the counter person told me I must have done, then I am sure that the inevitable food poisoning (Big Mac Attack) you get from eating that swill would have set in even faster (about 500 milliseconds).

EDIT: I will never eat their chicken nuggets. I have my own name for them - Chicken McTesticles.

Please tell me you're kidding.

Please tell me you're kidding.

About what? When someone offers to sell you something and they take your money and don't give you the product they were selling you that's stealing.

When someone does something illegal you call the police.

What am I supposed to be kidding about?

911 is not a hotline to report petty crimes that have already taken place. Did this woman have any reason to feel in immediate physical danger?

This is the problem.
#911 is so over promoted that many people only know it as 'the' way to contact police when a crime occurs (such as in this incident) instead of an emergencies only hot line.

She may have been wrong for using #911 for reporting the non-emergency crime, but she shouldn't be penalized for it because a crime had in fact occurred.

How would anybody know how hot the coffee was until they bought it? But I'm guessing the old lady never bought MacDonalds coffee again once she got out of the hospital 7 days later.

" Just go somewhere else" is no excuse for selling defective products to the public.

Given that the temperature was reduced and has stayed reduced for 15 years, I guess it's accepted that 180 degrees is better than boiling.

The product wasn't defective. It was supposed to be that hot.
The reduction in serving temp is a business move to avoid BS lawsuits such as the older woman filed, because Mickey D's wouldn't pay for her medical bills caused by her own negligence .

I wasn't supporting the fact that she called 911; I was saying that afaik it is legal, just stupid, and that if she wanted to report it to the police she should have called the nonemergency number.

Yes. We all know stupid people only came into existence a few decades ago.
