I wonder what possible good reason somebody could come up with for this. A radio chip? For what purpose. I looked on the Washington state website and it said it was cheaper and easier to use than a passport. I'd like to know how the radio chip itself makes that possible?

    Lol.

This reminds of the people who defend such surveillance with "If you're not a criminal, then you have nothing to worry about".

    No, just no.

It is just another step in technology like record keeping of tax records with pen and ink.

I saw this coming the second big brother made it mandatory to clear up all the old towers and convert all T.V. to digital signals. Welcome to your new RFID towers. This was pretty obvious.

Good observation. It was these same people who defended the wire tapping policy.

You let them take one freedom, they begin taking others. This is why you can't give ground on any. People will never learn... and I predict that the radio chip will pass into law without much resistance.

It will take the government wanting to chip your body before people make a stink, and by then it will be too late.

Dish or DirectTV should run ads..

IMO, this is a great idea.

UN expert: data mining a threat to human rights - International Herald Tribune
Unfettered collection of personal data by intelligence agencies is a threat to basic human rights, a U.N. expert has warned.

In an advance copy of a report to the U.N. Human Rights Council, Martin Scheinin said so-called 'data mining' blurs the boundary between the targeted observation of suspects and mass surveillance.

The temptation to collect excess information because it may be useful, rather than for a specific purpose, could undermine a person's right to privacy and nondiscrimination, he said.

"The technical capabilities of this technique can tempt the user towards broadening the definition of what is considered suspicious," according to the report published on a U.N. Web site Friday.
