I never have much respect when people get seperated by skin color. If a white President made such a statement about how things were gonna be tougher for caucasians he'd get lynched by the media.

But the race part is just cover for the REALLY interesting part:

The new administration had done "more in these past 30 days to bring about progressive change than we have in the past many years," the president said in prepared remarks, pointing to his 787-billion-dollar economic stimulus plan to revive the battered US economy.

Obama also highlighted his audacious 3.55-trillion-dollar budget plan for 2010, which bristles with economic reforms and spending on healthcare, climate change and education in a bid to end America's worst economic crisis since the 1930s.

"You have tapped into a yearning in the community to address our toughest problems instead of leaving them for another day, or year, or generation," Obama told the gathering.

"I have seen that same hunger as I've traveled across our country among Americans united not by the color of their skin but by a shared determination to build a more perfect union; to not only revive this economy but to transform our country.... And that is the work my administration has already begun."

Check the percentages. There are a higher percentage of blacks on welfare than whites among the individual races. I'd imagine that's what Lightdemon meant. I remember reading this somewhere. Regardless, Obama needs not to bring race into this.

I thought we were all Americans...

You're exactly right. The left goes around race baiting and throwing the race card as if trump, then scream bigotry when someone points out their idiocy and doesn't subscribe to their PC descriptions of non whites. We hear African-American, Latino, Asian-American or Muslim Communities as if they are all seperate entities within our country. The real dividers in America are the PC left, who feel the need to label, or classify people.

I always thought if you were a legal citizen, you're an American, period.
