Its not criticism about you but that guy is completely boring and one sided.

The whole communism alone wasn't an ideal solution, so it have to be capitalism/democracy instead, is just a flawed way of thinking. I believe more and more people are coming to the realization that capitalism/democracy is not working.

We need hybrid models, but thats just something this guy doesn't have in his mind, he is completely one sided.

    Ugh. Nej.

He is one sided because he is on the right side. He's seen the dark side, he's seen the Eurosocialist hybrids, and there is no more powerful engine than free people and free markets.

Hybrids suck. Don't believe me? Read on.

Communism wasn't just something far removed from an ideal solution, it is one of the most oppressive, disgusting systems to plague mankind. And plague they did. It was ideal for the destruction of man, his spirit and soul, and it was equally good at destroying infrastructure; buildings, roads, the environment. Nothing more.

It's tough to build the Taj Mahal when the Soviets left a latrine to work with. The only way they'll be able to unearth the layer of dung spread across these regions is by freeing their people to achieve to their utmost. Personal responsibility. Hard work. You know, things that are the grundstein of Freedom... Liberty.

    No hybrid models exist

Anyways, that paper there is quite old and focuses on GDP per person. With the lower dollar value on the higher Euro value, the list would look completely different now.

There are many good things about communism that a hybrid system could use. Perhaps the one sided people dont want to see that, but there definetely is.

Yes, I can see all the great successes Communism wrought in my travels through these countries.

Can you name one that offered long term benefits and did not require enslaving people to do it?

Hell, just name one good thing about Communism.

Communism is not just about the negative aspects of it. Perhaps you should do some research on communism..

State planning is one good thing about communism. Long term planning that is, which is impossible in democracy and 4 year governance, where two opposing forces just grabs power from each other and reverse each others changes.

Maybe we don't want the state to do the planning.

I would claim there are non! Since when could the left think?

It being a right wing think tank, plus at what stage of Swedish history it was written... yes it matters. And that the report happens to "prove" without a hitch the widely accept stereotypes set in stone by the European right about the US and Europe, makes me wonder even more.

People are influenced by opinions and what is going on around them, even me and you. That is why you always have to look at sources, who wrote it and why it might have been written in such a way.

I have stated several times that there are many red flags in the report (not to mention most numbers are 9+ years old), since the sources and methodology are suspect (lack of transparency). Now I dont think per say that the report is totally "wrong", and I even agree on some of the aspects and points the writers use, but it is ideology rather than fact that is being promoted. Take for example the "mircowave" statistic between Denmark and the US. The writers just throw it out there, without any analysis. Is it because Denmark is too "poor" to have as many microwaves? Of course not. Danes are just too slow in accepting new technology often and only buying things they find useful.. and a microwave is not exactly essential in a home. Basicly there are many social aspects that are important in those statistics, that the report does not take into account at all. Instead it uses it as a "yard stick" to prove that American's are better off than Europeans.

Well obviously Danes hate popcorn since they refuse to buy microwaves.
