OKC officer pulls man over for anti-Obama sign on vehicle

''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.

When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.

''They said, 'It's because of the sign in your window,'" Harrison said.

''It's not meant to be a threat, it's a statement about abortion," Harrison said.

He said he disagrees with the president's position on abortion.

''I asked the officer, 'Do you know what abort means?'" Harrison said. "He said, 'Yeah, it means to kill.' I said, 'No, it means to remove or terminate.'"

Critisizm of Obama WILL NOT be tolerated.

The police can pull you over for any reason they want and there are enough rules on the books that you are guilty of something and if not, they can completely make it up.

I don't think the guy should've been pulled over, but if the Cop did it because he thought he was driving around with something encouraging people to kill the President and he'd have done it whether it was Bush or Obama then I can understand the cop's position on it too.

While "Terminate" is part of the definition of Abortion, "terminate" itself is usually thought of as Killing. Abortion commonly is assossiated with "kill". "Removing" Obama could be construed just as much towards "kill obama" as "remove obama from office".

I honestly am not sure about this one, but if stating your intent or desire to, or for someone to, kill a sitting president is considered against the law and that's what this officer believe the sign to be stating then its understandable.

There's no evidence from what I've seen that this man was pulled over because it was about OBAMA as much as it was because it was about a PRESIDENT and KILLING them in the Cops mind.

I wonder how many "Abortion is Murder" bumper stickers/bilboards this cop has seen. In OKC, I'll bet they are as ubiquitous as license plates. That said, he's still an idiot.

The guy deserved to be pulled over.

"Abort Obama, not the unborn."

This is supposed to mean:
Remove Obama from office, not unborn babies from the womb.

Yeah, I really believe that.

I would read that and think the sign meant to kill Obama. EASILY. His first amendment right wasn't violated. Give me a break.

So you think that this guy wouldn't have gotten pulled over if he had a similar sign about a different President? Are you seriously that far gone in your Obama paranoia?

I personally think it's silly to pull a person over because of a bumper sticker, regardless of what it says. However, the officer was obviously well within his rights to pull the guy over, so he did.

Um, hello?

Obama proudly declared that Lincoln was his roll model.

And what did Lincoln do?

He suspended habeus corpus, arrested members of congress who merely dissented in word alone, imprisoned citizens who protested.....

Do people really not understand what they voted into office?

It was a joke, like the concept of a brain in your head.

Maybe people wouldn't criticize your pointless one-liner posts if they actually contributed something to the conversation.

I BEG you to look in the mirror and say the above sentence outloud. PLEASE.

Only if you beg on your knees in front of me.

I wouldn't have pulled the guy over the sign.

However I think any inference that this is part of some campaign by Obama or his administration to stifle criticism of him or his policies is just ludicrous. Oklahoma is hardcore GOP and was squarely behind McCain across the board. So it's not even a geopolitical influence. Neither the people nor their political leaders are pro-Obama.

This is just plain partisan sillyness.

Why the selective outrage? :rofl

Yea, that could be construed as a threat against the President, but do you want to see something REALLY outrageous? Check out THIS cartoon in Rupert Murdoch's New York Post:

So is there a lawsuit against the maker of the bumpersticker?

Oh, I saw it yesterday. I am speechless.

Meh, I just get ticked when authority figures step outside thier pervue when policing its citizens. Little to do as to how conservative or not OK is, or the politics themselves....
