Woman says Connecticut chimpanzee bit her in '96

Out of all the dumb **** people do, getting a chimp as a pet. IF it can rip your arms off, eat you and is not a domesticated animal then the general rule of thumb should be that animal should not be your pet. I seen another similar story of some dumbass couple who decided it was a good idea to have a chimp as a pet, on this show they were talking about how chimps are 20 times stronger than humans and after the get a certain age they become very dangerous.

    TBO.com - News From AP

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- The same 200-pound chimp who was fatally shot this week after a vicious attack on his owner's friend also bit a woman in 1996, the woman said in an interview broadcast Thursday.

The woman, Leslie Mostel-Paul, said Travis the chimp bit her hand and tried to pull her into a vehicle as she greeted him. She said she complained to the chimp's owner and to police.

Travis was killed Monday after severely wounding his owner's friend, 55-year-old Charla Nash. Nash remained hospitalized Thursday with critical injuries to her face and hands.

"I honestly believe if they had followed through, maybe the laws would have been changed sooner and this other woman wouldn't be in the hospital, fighting for her life now," said Mostel-Paul, a former Stamford resident who lives in Atlanta.

Owner Sandra Herold, who raised the chimpanzee from its infancy, has said he was a loving pet whose behavior Monday was completely out of character.

Herold speculated that Travis was being protective of her when he attacked Nash, who she said was driving a different car, wearing a new hairstyle and holding an Elmo stuffed toy in front of her face as a present to the chimp.

Meanwhile, an animal control officer, Lynn DellaBianco, said she warned Herold in 2003 after Travis escaped Herold's vehicle and frolicked in downtown Stamford traffic for a few hours. DellaBianco, who ran Stamford's animal shelter at the time, told "Today" she warned Herold that the pet's mischievous behavior was worrisome.

"I did express concern that obviously this could turn into something worse if he really decided to start getting angry and do something," DellaBianco said.

Authorities have not said whether Herold will face criminal charges. State law allowed her to own the 14-year-old chimp as a pet, though several state leaders are calling for tighter restrictions in the wake of the latest attack.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I remember this other attack as well.

2 Chimps Shot Dead After Attacking Couple - Los Angeles Times

    Read this description:

Doctors at the hospital said most of Davisí face had been gnawed off by the animals. His wife, Ladonna Davis, 64, suffered a bite wound on the hand.
This couple had been the owner of one of them and had put him in a sanctuary.

I believe that having a chimpanzee as a pet should be strictly forbidden. I think this woman should have to pay all the medical bills her friend will incur as a result of this disgusting attack.

This is no different than the morons who have pet tigers.Certain animals should not be pets.IF that animal is stronger than can eat you or rip off your limbs and is not domesticated then it shouldn'ty be a pet. If some scientist want to breed some chimps, tigers or some other large animals that are tame throughout all their adult life, gentle, and domesticated then more power to them, until that day comes no one should have a chimp as a pet or any other large animal like that as a pet.

I hope she gets the hell sued out of her. This is no different than someone letting their dog loose and that dog biting anyone and everyone in site.As the owner of that pet that owner is responsible for the actions of that animal and is responsible to make sure that animal is secured.

If her friend was bringing the chimp a present she knew the chimp. It wasn't like a stranger's dog biting you.

So the friend who was attacked was not completely innocent. But this is up to the jury.

We've all seen these animal shows from Africa that show chimps as pets. Hell, look at Tarzan! Most people think of chimps as cute little monkey friends.

I believe what happened was that the owner of the chimp called her friend to have her friend help her get the chimp to come inside. The friend was over there HELPING the owner of the chimp. The friend is completely innocent. Come on, sazerac. You're going to blame the friend?

Now didn't the libs just cry racism about that bailout bill cartoon of the police shooting the chimp as representing Obama? Well based on that standard, we need to find out who's living in the White House now. Who is code named Travis? :

Last night on Hardball, a Republican congressman said that if the chimp represented Obama, he agreed it was offensive and racist. I'm glad you think the cartoon is funny.

I'm sorry....I'm sooo very very sorry....but the thing is, monkey are ALWAYS funny.....not my fault...so when I heard the radio play over and over the 911 call "help, he's eating her face" I couldn't help but LMAO.

Then they played the owner telling a story on a morning show a few years ago: "I always let him groom my teeth, and one time I felt a tremendous pain and blood gushed from my mouth. He had pulled one of my teeth out, root and all."

Wow. I don't even know what to say about your response. This is funny--a woman getting her face eaten by a chimpanzee is funny. How disgusting.

UM... what do you expect when you feed your chimp Xanax?
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.
