And is even 26% of Republican politicians from various minority groups? How many black republican Senators are there? How many black Congressmen? How many black American's were at the last Republican National Convention where the Republican's choose a white man as their presidential candidate?

The race problem is everyone's problem. And the worst thing you can do, is like the Republican's, ignore the fact that there is a problem between races or religions in a society.

I have travelled the world and seen many minorities being abused, marginalised and worse in many countries. In Saudi Arabia, people from most Asian countries and areas of the Arab world are treated as slaves. In Eastern Europe the Romany are hunted and marginalised. Even in the EU, problems due to race are not exactly unheard off and we are no better if not worse than the US on race issues.. I admit that (other than we have far fewer people of colour). Is the US one of the worst offenders? Hell no not even close, but they do have a problem like everyone else and ignoring it wont make it go away. Many European countries ignore the problem too btw, including the UK, but that does not mean that race based tensions are not around and are not a problem.

And no more evident is the problem than in the present Republican party. I know the history of this once proud party, but the facts are facts. A very small amount of elected official's and even members come from minorities in the Republican party. No party can claim to understand "minority issues" if that party does not have some basic representation in those groups. Do you think that Le Pen is the best person to understand the troubles of the Northern African descendant French?

You and others can keep claiming that the "magic negro" song was a joke and other comments were jokes, but it is the context and who "said the joke" and especially when it was said, is often is the deal breaker. Plus the actions of the Republican party to deal with radical fringe racist elements has not exactly been "stellar". They allowed David Duke to get elected on a Republican ticket. They allowed a KKK member to get elected under the Republican ticket and so on. On top of that, there has been a clear policy by the Republican party through out the Bush years and even before to target minority areas in elections and prevent turn out. There was letters telling people that Republicans should vote on election day and Democrats the next day. There was giving relatively fewer election machine's to democratic often black or minority areas. And dont tell me that this does not matter in an over all picture of the Republican party.. It does.

I have no doubt that the basic Republican is a good person and not a racist, but as along as they allow radical fringe freaks to infest the party and use the party to promote racist and anti minority views, then the party will be seen as to harbour such people.

They could be. Do you have any evidence they are not?

If these people don't want to join the Republican party then that is not its fault. It has its agenda and part of that is a respect for the Anglo-American and Judeo-Christian culture of the US, just as part of it is respect for small business and free entreprise that doesn't get them much support from big labour unions. I think it would a lot worse if they compromised on this for PC reasons like just including more minorities as I'd hate to the Tories abandon their ancient principles of Church and King even more for such reasons.

Look at the terrible behaviour of Orius in this thread. It seems to me that those who keep trying to insert race into many discussions do minoirites no favours. Definitely the New Labour, PC thug approach has not helped at all.

Huffpo had posted what appeared to be a video of Fox News's John Gibson jokingly referring to Attorney General Eric Holder as a monkey with a "bright blue scrotum." That last bit is a reference to an unrelated news story about a Debrazza monkey that escaped from a zoo in Seattle.

There are a few minority representatives in Spain. Not enough, but then again the amount of black people in Spain (as in Spanish citizens) is next to non compared to the US.

Spanish society is a very very "white" society I dont deny that one bit and that has the crappy effect that there is quite a bit of racial complications as we all know.

That's why you folks try to rewrite history.

It wasn't Republican governors keeping schools segregated in violation of the law... it was 100% Democrats.

Much of it is not that old.
Johnson, Kennedy, Byrd, Biden.

With this mentality, we will discover that it was the Republicans responsible for the failure of Obama's Porkulus. In fact, when history is written, it will be noted that Republicans will have forced Obama's hand in pushing Porkulus.

TBH no direct numbers from the Republican Party that I can find. However there are many things that point to it. Election's, polls, reports from national conventions about numbers of minorities there, and lately during the leadership meeting, 4 black representatives out of 100+ people. All this and more points to a big problem drawing in black and minority representation not to mention votes.

If these people don't want to join the Republican party then that is not its fault. I agree, but why do they not want to join or vote for the Republican party? Is it because the all are leftists non religious? Hardly. Are they all muslims? Hardly. Is it because they believe (correct or falsely) that the Republicans do not represent their values? That the Republican party is seen as to have targeted in a negative way their minority or others for whatever reason? Do you think the rabid anti illegal stance that many in the Republican party have, which has warped into a defacto targeting of the Hispanic community.. actually draw in the legal Hispanics? Do you think that when right wing members of this forum and right wing talking heads say that the reason that the US teen pregnancy rate is due to the black minority.. does this help drawing in the black community?

But back to the main issue.. denying that race issues is not a factor and a problem is being a coward, and yes the Republicans (just look at this thread) are therefore cowards.

Holder says we are cowards, well I guess us peckerwoods are a bunch of damn racist. Wait a miniute, 43% of white voters voted for Obama. Thats more voters than all of the African American and Latino voters combined. My caucasian 68 year old father and his 67 year old communist wife voted for Obama. Are they cowards too? Or is it just those of us who disagree with Obama's politics who are cowardly racist?

Byrd, former Senate leader for the D's was with the KKK.
The Dead Kennedy's were pretty tight with the Nazi's.
Not particularly well known for their racial tolerance.

My guess is that those of us(cowards) who see a problem with such racial preferences as ; The Black Caucuses, Black Policemens Associations, American Negroe College funds, Racial Quotas/ Blacks before whites hiring practices, Affirmative action,etc,etc,etc,... we are the cowards causeing the racial devides to percist. The likes of Malcom X , jesse Jackson, and Eric Holder, are all healers. WE cowards cause all of the social ills to percist, and at times become inflamed. NOTICE; To any and all races,...If you want to be a part of it all join the HUMAN RACE. :cool:

Everybody I know calls black people "black." And this is not something we do behind their backs. They call me "white."

I don't think 'negro' or 'African American' is appropriate. It sounds like the person has never met a black person before and might start touching their hair if they ever did meet one. Seriously, you'd get funny looks.

I know that it is the one charge that can be leveled at someone in a conversation and I immediately discount everything that the accuser says from then on. It's just obnoxious and trite at this point.

There's a brilliant South Park episode where the children don't get it that a figure of black man being lynched by a group of white figures is racist. They don't notice at all that the men are different colors.

Eric Holder, have you met Dr. James Watson? He tried to talk honestly about race and lots of your fellow travelers vilified him. He wasn't a coward. You really should direct your energy at reforming the attitudes of the race warriors in your own ranks before you call Americans cowards. Every scientist learned a very important lesson at Dr. Watson's expense - don't talk honestly about race if you wish to preserve your career.
