Thousands of people in rural Alaska face freezing or starving to death. Some are surviving on nuts, berrries and squirrels like prehistoric man. Sarah Palin and her government can’t even figure out how to declare a state of emergency. Even with all the federal pork and oil subsidies, they will need even more help from the federal government.

Just think, she wants to be president and bring all this joy to the whole country. Can’t wait!

I don't see how this is Palin's fault. Nobody told them to live in the middle of nowhere Alaska.

There was an ABC News program on TV Friday nite with Dianne Sawyer which looked at Appalachian poverty which has existed and still exists after Bobby Kennedy visited there in the 1960's.

This, despite Democratic and Republican administrations.

Your indictment of Sarah Palin is simplistic and transparently biased.

every heard of personal responsibility?

When you live in that sort of climate, it is incredibly negligent to not of stocked up on essential survival supplies for a brutal and long winter.

Furthermore, the brunt of the story deals with how much more expensive goods have become, which is only the tip of the iceberg with the Obots running things now.

Ashley Judd stopped them from killing wolves and now there is no elk and moose to hunt so now they're all starving.

Nice going, Ashley! :(

Actually,
it was my fault. I gave them an ultimatum live in the freezing cold, where nothing dares to grow, and starve.
OR
Live in a bountiful land where you cannot make a penny to buy food for your family. And all the farm lands are being more and more consolidated into agri-business, meaning, being self-sufficient and a functional member of a capitalistic society (able to plug money into the money fountain, as capitalism requires a ritualistic approach to the flow over money, where once it stops the system crashes) is not possible

This is true. One side wants the govt. to be our benefactor, the other side wants corporations to be our benefactor.

From the interview it appears that the price of goods is directly tied to the harsh circumstances these poor people are now facing.

I disagree with your statement about negligence. How do you stock up when your transportation is a snowmobile and your funds are low?

I'm not ready to point my finger at Palin. This is the first I've heard of it. I didn't read in the article or hear in the interview how long Palin has known about this. It sounds like the people in these areas have been suffering for awhile but I didn't see how long ago they approached her with their need. I'll give her a little time to see what she does.

Prices have been steadily gaining. I don't think we'll see the top of this mountain for awhile. Obama just took office. Blaming him or the Democrats for the rising costs in America is really silly.

$22.00 / dozen eggs...,"Don`t buy the eggs". OH, and stop trying to live generation on generation on the welfare state. Send your children to school and climb up out of the dark ages. Get off the reservation. One prehistoric man in the village said," We don`t have a refrigerator so we have to go to the store 200 miles away every week on the snow mobile the government bought us". This all reeks of LIBERAL WHINE... :spin:

I`ll make a deal with all the liberals in here. Stop trying to blame Sarah Palin for your misserable lives and I won`t climb down your throat when you DON`T blame her anymore. :2wave:

Why wait on Palin, it sounds like a job for Barry Obama.... Livin like welfare liberals, generation on end, I wouldn`t be shocked if Barry doesn`t know how it works, and how to fix it up right cozy for these idiots..., or was that Inuets?

Your compassion and understanding of the reality of this situation is... well... under whelming.

These people are in the same population group as all the other extremes that will be, and are, the first to feel the effects of this economic crisis: poor, uneducated, seniors, etc. When their situations start to turn around then we will know this crisis is making the turn towards recovery.

As much as Palin is an idiot, I can't blame this on her.

Barack Obama doesn't care about snow people.

I do accept your admonishment in its entirety. I still feel strongly that money better spent ,than welfare, would be build better schools and require their attendance. I have been equally harsh with the money whores who caused our present demise..., problem there is they can`t be educated ...they have evil greedy hearts, and just don`t care. Thank You sir.:2wave:

Ron Pauligism shines it's ugly head once again :

In many stores, 2 pounds of cheese costs between $15 and $18, milk costs $10 a gallon, a 5-pound bag of apples costs $15, and a dozen eggs costs $22 -- more than double the price in the area just two years ago.

Many area residents don't even bother with fruits and vegetables, which can be damaged by freezing on the trip home.

After shopping, the Stronghearts pack their groceries into boxes, tie them to the snowmobile, and begin the 25-mile trek home, passing moose, rabbit and fox tracks along the way.

How can this be the 'tip' of the iceberg when it's been going on for over two years? What? A 12 pack of eggs for $11 wasn't expensive enough? This is not even political. It's people complaining about living in the middle of ****ing nowhere and having to pay more for **** that was already expensive and could only get more expensive during economic frailty.

Does anyone think that if all Americans had College Bachelor degrees that all Americans would all have well paying secure jobs?

Does anyone think that all Americans were born with the same capacity for learning?

Does anyone think that all Americans were born with the same level of intelligence?

Step 1: Board up your igloo
Step 2: Ride your snowmobiles to a large city
Step 3: Sell your snowmobiles for $10k
Step 4: Travel to someplace where freezing/starving to death isn't a real possibility
Step 5: Get a job loading boxes, folding T-shirts, etc.
Step 6: ???
Step 7: Profit!

The article says prices doubled in just two years. just means within two years, not more then two years.

And it is the tip of the iceberg because the problem is going to get worse.

WE are required by law to believe your second two points.... Its called affirmative action...,(AKA, PC gone wild). In the very remote pssibilty that we all have the same capacity to learn, we should send the dead beats to school,at least to the HS grad level. They aren`t of much employability if they are as dumb as a box of rocks about the workings of a developed nation / society. Major parts of our prison populations are uneducated and chose the entertainment of a criminal life style. If education helps correct just this one problem its worth building more schools.

Another liberal Einstein trying to run a thread.

But the state hasn't declared an emergency yet, and it can't because of a state statute that requires the average income levels in the villages to drop below $26,500 -- regardless of the cost of living.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's office said the state is trying to find a way to free up government help.
Read that! Do you see what it says? You can't even be intellectually honest. This isn't Palin's fault. Damn!

People are freezing? Oh gee I thought Global Warming meant we were all going to fry. Turns out that was a big joke and it looks like we're heading to an Ice Age: Source.

OMG! So that means the price of Eggs must have been....

Price of Eggs in Alaska :

Rise in price of eggs is no chicken feed

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the average price of the soon-to-be-painted eggs rose 23 percent from $1.75 per dozen in February 2007 to $2.17 the same month this year.

Alright so eggs are 5x-6x more expensive in the middle of Nowhere'sville Alaska regardless of how you look at things. Like I said. This is nothing more then people complaining about **** being too expensive in the middle of nowhere. Not even political. Just bitching.
