It should. No country barring competitors from fairly competing should be allowed to host such tournaments.
Didn't you know its only peace loving and fair when it benefits them?
They just didn't want to get their arse kicked for the world to see by an evil Jewish tennis pro........

When has an Israeli athlete ever played in Dubai? Dubai and Israel have never had diplomatic ties and this isn't the first time they've denied someone a visa.

The Jewish tennis pro would get spanked by the genetic freak Williams sisters, or one of those equally genetically unique Russians.
It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.

Genetically unique Russians? Please provide nude pictures of these Russian women so that I may judge their tennis assets.

Let's see. You mentioned muslims, racist, and jew. You interjected three things right there in Post #2.

In response to your Post #2, I mentioned Jewish, black, and Muslim in Post #5.

If anyone is trying tohere Pete, it is clearly you.
Okay then tell me this.... why have you and others not been up in arms over the following.

Israel denies entry to high-profile critic Norman Finkelstein - Haaretz - Israel News

Starhawk: Denied Entry Into Israel - On Faith at washingtonpost.com

US professor Richard Falk deported from Israel over Holocaust comments | World news | guardian.co.uk

Instances where Israel has done exactly the same thing.

And where was the outrage when this happened?

Extremist Israeli politician banned from Britain - Telegraph

Moshe Feiglin, leader of the hardline-theological Jewish Leadership faction within Likud, received a letter from the UK's Home Office in December warning him he would not be permitted to enter the country
Or when this happened just the other day

Dutch politician banned from UK over anti-Islam views | Metro.co.uk

Why is it, that you only go up in arms when it happens to an Israeli going to a Muslim country, (that is in an active boycott of Israel btw) and not when Israel does it to others or when Israelis are banned from non Muslim countries?

You can spin it as much as you want, but you started this thread, well knowing one party was an Isreali and hence most likely a Jew, and the other party was an Arab nation, most likely a Muslim nation. It was just another Israel vs the Arab world bs crap, and you can not deny that the whole conflict has very religious tones too it... hello... the wailing wall and Al Aqsaq mosque?

    .
Had this action by the UAE been motivated by religion, we would see Jews from other nationalities being denied entry as well. None has been reported. It is a political not a religious issue. UAE does not have diplomatic relations with Israel.

I see an eagerness of some folks here to tag political issues as religiously motivated
I doubt that if Israel denies a Lebanese Christian/Muslim athlete entry for a competition it would be called a religious discrimination.

Edit: Israeli Arabs Muslims/Christians can not enter UAE as well.

how dare anyone criticize Israel, ever.

Israel should be treated exactly like South Africa was.
And why does your tone suggest that you do not care about children?

Not the same as someone being denied to play in a tournament they earned the right into and a tournament for which the WTA has granted them a license to hold.

The UAE can ban anyone they want from entering their territory, just like anyone else.
And the WTA can take the tournament away from the UAE next year, and well they should.

They have their reasons so be it and accept it, we do not live in a world where freedom of movement is universal for everyone regardless of sex, race, religion or a number of other criteria.
It is very different. The government of Dubai lobbies to hold these tournaments - whether they be WTA, ATP, PGA, etc. The sports associations have a right to expect that their members who qualify be permitted to compete in these tournaments. If those countries fail to live up to their obligations, the sports associations can AND SHOULD take those tournaments away.

Doha allowed her to play last year. Qatar is trying to upstage Dubai as an international sporting center. This action by the government in Abu Dhabi will help Doha to do exactly this.
