I haven't seen anyone post about this issue. I wanted to post it so that people could check to make sure they don't have food from Peanut Corp. of America. Under the article, I have posted the fda website so that you can see the list of products affected.

I hope the head honcho is charged with serious crimes. People died from the salmonella poisoning. :2mad:

Peanut firm boss urged shipping bad products
E-mails show owner worried about lost sales, disregarded salmonella tests

WASHINGTON - The owner of a peanut company urged his workers to ship tainted products after receiving test results identifying salmonella, imploring employees to "turn the raw peanuts on our floor into money," according to internal company e-mails disclosed Wednesday by a U.S. House of Representatives committee.

The company e-mails obtained by the House panel showed that Peanut Corp. of America owner Stewart Parnell ordered the shipments tainted with the bacteria because he was worried about lost sales.

At one point, Parnell said his workers "desperately at least need to turn the raw peanuts on our floor into money," and at another point told his plant manager to "turn them loose" after learning some peanuts were contaminated with salmonella.

Well then I say nationalize peanuts. I mean we can't trust industry to produce safe food anymore. When do the Congressional hearings begin?

Sorry, I was surcoming to the most logical path for a liberal solution. ;)

Well I guess that dude is going to jail for quite some time now.

Do you think he can be charged with "murder"? ;)

I would say voluntary manslaughter fits the bill perfectly for each death and he can be charged with each illness against a person as well.

I heard some feedback from the growers who are trying to distance themselves from the manufacturers. On one hand I agree with their position since they were not in the wrong. On the other hand, it strikes me that they're more concerned with their livelihood than the people who have gotten sick and/or died.

Which is ok I guess, but it's all in the delivery. PR and that sort.

Maybe Obama and Co. will add just a tad more pork fat to the bill to bail them out.

I can see how this plays out in court already.....

Prosecutor: Would you eat your own peanut butter?

Peanut company CEO: I take the fifth on that.

American posted(Well then I say nationalize peanuts)

With election of so called Democratic Government, I think US Government under leader Pelosi already was.:rofl

Yay
Partisan Hacks by the first post after O.P.

This is ridiculous. There is no excuse for sending bacteria infested peanuts anywhere. Guy should be slapped.

Wow - I am VERY surprised to see you take a far left position like that.

Now I can mess with you a little - You called me a fake Conservative a while back. All I can say now is he who smelt it dealt it. LOL.

That did happen today!

Seriously? Stuff like this doesn't go to court for months.

They were testifying before congress and they were asked that question and stood on their Fifth Amendment right.

I think that was more of a factious sort of statement about future events. There has been federal investigation and findings into this, but no one has been brought before a court in order to start prosecution yet.

OMG - I'm a freakin' mind reader. Seriously, though, I don't think this has ever happened to me before. LMAO.

True. I didn't mean to imply it was in court. It was before Congress(not sure which branch or committee). I caught it on TV.

If true, this CEO should be punished to the fullest. I can only hope the fullest is a lot of time behind bars.

In related news, Mr. Peanut has resigned his position at Planter's.

Peanut company officials spurn Congress' questions - CNN.com

The president of a peanut company and a plant manager accused of knowingly distributing contaminated food refused to answer questions posed by members of Congress on Wednesday, citing their Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination.

Rep. Greg Walden, R-Oregon, brandished a container sealed with yellow "caution" tape.

"In this container are products that have your ingredients in them, some of which were on the recall list, some of which are probably contaminated," he said. "It seems like, from what we've read, you were willing to send out that peanut base [that] went into these ingredients.

"And I just wonder, would either of you be willing to take the lid off and eat any of these products now, like the people on the panel ahead of you, their relatives, their loved ones did?"

Holy crap....Danarhea, what are tonight's lotto numbers!
