Peanut firm boss urged shipping bad products

OMG - I'm a freakin' mind reader. Seriously, though, I don't think this has ever happened to me before. LMAO.

First you slay the DP Newsbot and now you slay Edgar Cayce. :rofl

If true, this CEO should be punished to the fullest. I can only hope the fullest is a lot of time behind bars.

9 wrongful deaths, essentialy negligent homicides. Money whores, you can`t live with them, and you can`t live with them. "Ship them damn peanuts..., what about our profit margin"? :doh Something like six positive tests for salmonela, IGNORED, for profit.

I can see how this plays out in court already.....

Prosecutor: Would you eat your own peanut butter?

Peanut company CEO: I take the fifth on that.

This SOB should be forced, at gun point if necessary to eats his own peanuts, then he should be incarcerated for life.
In fact., he should be hung.... in a public square.....

I think the silver lining in all this is that i can get a case of peanut butter off the back of the truck at whole foods for like $10.

The quotes in the article remind me of Belgovitch...... I thought Salmonella came from blood? As in dirty, bloody water infesting crops right before harvest or impossible.

I haven't seen anyone post about this issue. I wanted to post it so that people could check to make sure they don't have food from Peanut Corp. of America. Under the article, I have posted the fda website so that you can see the list of products affected.

I hope the head honcho is charged with serious crimes. People died from the salmonella poisoning. :2mad:

Recall of Products Containing Peanut Butter: Salmonella Typhimurium

I GOOGLED the recall list. It is hundreds of companies and brand names. The money whore in this case, knowingly put salmonella in food products and food ingredients. If the charge isn`t homicide,(one level or another..., then we know the score. "If it is ,for profit, everythings go`s". Go ahead federal courts...set that precedence.

I am not going to google every single freaking thing I do not know. But thank you for doing that. That was cool.

It took longer for you to write a post containing incorrect information than it would have taken you to google it, and you would have actually learned something as well.

Stewart Parnell Wants His Passport Back for Business Travel
By Dan Flynn | April 16, 2013

Stewart Parnell, the former chief executive officer of the now defunct Peanut Corporation of American who is facing trial on a long list of criminal charges related to an outbreak of foodborne illness five years ago, wants his passport back.

Parnell, 58, of Lynchburg, VA gave up his U.S. passport on Feb. 28 as a condition of the bond he posted in order to stay out of jail while awaiting trial. He surrendered the passport to the U.S. Probation Office.....

........The grand jury indictment of the four defendants was unsealed on Feb. 21. The others criminally charged are Parnell’s brother Michael Parnell, former operator of the Blakely, GA peanut processing, Samuel Lightley and former quality assurance manger Mary Wilkerson.

In prior civil litigation, more than 100 sickened in the outbreak were awarded $12 million in damages.

I remember this food poisoning incident. my thought at the time was that the whole thing could have been prevented with food irradiation and more oversight. my current opinion is that the whole thing could have been prevented with food irradiation and more oversight.

Stewart Parnell gave up his passport on Feb 28, 2013 in order to stay out of jail and two months later he's asking for it back? Sounds extremely stupid, but if he wants to go to jail to get back a passport he then won't be able to use, why not? If he thinks we should just give it back to him WITHOUT sending him to jail, he should be laughed out of court and sent to a federal pound-me-in-the-ass penitentiary.

Come on people, these guys won't see one second of jail time. Quit kidding yourself. The company will be fined about half the profits from the sale of the tainted peanuts, and will go on operating like nothing happened. Welcome to the libertarian dream.

There are people, I think quite a few of them, who object to food irradiation. Remember the hubub when the process was introduced?

Here's some of them.

i'm well aware of the woo that surrounds food irradiation. the only problem i see with it is that beneficial bacteria are killed as well. if we ate nothing but irradiated food, that might become a problem. however, treating some produce (and peanut butter) is just plain smart.

cooking inactivates more nutrients than irradiation. additionally, cooking meat creates heterocyclic amines, which can cause cancer. i don't see very many people arguing against cooking, though. only a tiny minority.

i'd love to have labeled, irradiated options so that those who understand science can eliminate their risk of food poisoning. if everyone else wants to consume Salmonella and E. coli, more power to them. i don't.

this issue is close to my heart, as i spent two years developing a natural food treatment that only works a fraction as well as irradiation. thanks to irradiation woo, i got to work one of the best jobs i've ever had. however, i still support irradiated options.

If true, he should be criminally prosecuted and have no corporate shield against civil liabilities. The management that went along with also should have the same exposure.

In the Libertarian dream, peanut farmers like him would not get any subsidies.

Libertarian solution: kill all federal subsidies to farmers. Done.

As stated by one obviously not in touch with libertarian philosophy.
