Republicans Shut Out of Stimulus Conference Negotiations

You can't spend your way out of debt.

It's not a stimulus package, it's a payoff plan, The dems are rewarding the people & companies that voted for them.

There's a few token "rebate" checks being thrown towards the poor and stupid to make it appear like the government is taking care of the little guy.

The rest of the pork is disguised. If there were true transparency in this administration of "change & hope", then each earmark would be itemized, with the sponsers name attached.

New administration, same old bull****.

One might even say "meet the new boss -- the same as the old boss."

This time it is worse however; they are spending trillions they just don’t have which means they will also be printing the money to pay the obligations which means inflation combined with high unemployment.

But it doesn't end there; on top of all this nonsense is a constant fear mongering in order to rationalize/justify the porkulus. This is hardly encouraging, uplifting or likely to inspire confidence in the marketplace.

If this is the change OTHERS wanted, it certainly is going the WRONG direction.

I agree. I'm not going to apologize for wanting Obama to fail, I'm loving life watching this baffoon. He's a speech maker, period. Everyday we see his failures as a decision maker, whether it's an appointment or a policy.

The best part, is watching his little tantrums when critisized, he loses his cool quite easily, he get's that smirk on his face, and becomes very condescending.

It's an expensive ticket, and the popcorn is pricey too, but it's a 4 year show, and we're all in the front row. ;)

I, for one, am not at all happy to be watching the buffoonery. Yes, I saw it coming a long time ago. Yes, I knew Obama was out of his depth. But that's why I didn't vote for him. The last thing we need right now is buffoonery.

I do find it interesting that so many of his most vocal supporters 'round these parts have been uncharacteristically quiet in threads they'd have been all over not long ago.

Oh absolutely. Because now, instead of the hype and the myth, they have a verifiable record to have to defend. And it's only going to get worse for them as they realize that The One is actually a big Zero.

Well, the reality is hitting the fan now.

When the New York Times -- and Paul Krugman -- both say they have no idea what the hell the Administration is doing, that's bad.

I say good.

Because when porkzilla passes, then causes the recession to become much worse, The Democrats and there new spirit of hostility will have no one to point a finger at to blame.

What idiots.

So much for this new tone Obama was going to bring to Washington.

The "change" Obama spoke of during his campaign was from capitalism to socialism. I thought everyone knew that?

I see striking similarities when Obama doesn't have a teleprompter in front of him.

did you watch his hour long press conference? He didn't have a prompter then. I think you just like to say these things to see if anyone falls for them. Anyone comparing Obama's intellect to Bush's doesn't have enough intellect to make the comparison. Follow me?

No, I don't follow you because I have no desire to chase your head up your own ass.

did you watch his hour long press conference?

I did. He stammered and stuttered his way through his typical non responsive "mini speeches" to softball questions throw by the inept left wing media.

Helen Thomas: "Do you think there are so called terrorists along the Afghan/Pakistan border?"

Are you kidding me? No, you're not, we've come to expect this type of question from such stellar far left journalist such as Helen.

Major Garret asked the only valid question of the bunch, and not only did Obama throw Biden under the bus, he couldn't even recall the conversation in which Biden was referring to, thus, dodging the question entirely.

Hmmm, Scooter Libby was prosecuted and convicted for not remembering a conversation...

I totally agree with you on this!

I'll go one further with the Porkulus Package. I WANT our Republican representatives in the House and Senate to put as much distance between themselves and this bill as possible!

It's a matter of principal and it comes down to what you believe in. The gauntlet has been thrown down and I for one would like to see a more "up yours" attitude from the Republicans.

:2wave:

"...[Change]..."capitalism to socialism". Right , socialism with a gigantic economic stimulus package not at all unlike W`s,"where did all the money go" ? ,,,stimulus plan.

Yeah, which is exactly why it should be followed up with another one, right?

Exactly. Republicans found it inconvenient to join the meetings, but met together in a closed room to hatch their own pork. Tax cuts for the rich, now there's an ingenious idea.

At least a tax cut for the [so-called] "rich" is a true tax cut, no welfare like Obama's plan to give taxes back to those who have never paid any. Liberals have trouble admitting the obvious fact: When true middle class and more wealthy taxpayers get a break in lower taxes, they often invest it in business ventures that can produce legitimate jobs and economic growth!

Perhaps if our country survives Obama and the Democrats' attempt to socialize, then one day Democrats will have to take a back seat as they should have been forced to do in the mid-'90s.

The Democrats consistently tried to reach out on the stimulus plan and the result was a whopping 2 senators voted for it and NO representatives did- after multiple revisions designed to make it more attractive across the aisle.

The Democrats tried, the Republicans weren't interested.

That's what you get when you wont play.

I'll tell you why Repub didn't vote for it... here's why... its full of pork, special interest, and other NON-STIMULUS ****. That's right, BILLIONS of dollars in NON-ESSENTIALS that in no way STIMULATE the economy. Its the Dems setting up for elections by pandering under the disguise of STIMULUS.

Democrats "reaching out" to Republicans:

Nancy Pelosi: We won.

Frankly, as obnoxious as "We won" sounds, it's TRUE! The Republicans passed bills during Bush's term that allowed all these tax cuts. By voting for Democrats and kicking out the Republicans in massive numbers, the voters are saying to the Republicans, "Your tax cuts haven't worked. We want to try something else."

Why the Republicans keep pushing their own agenda when it was rejected in November 2008 is beyond me.

For this Obama supporter, it's been enjoyable watching the anti-Obama people yell and scream about how horrible he is. I read their posts and think, "Now they know how I felt for the last 8 years." I don't care to respond because, in my opinion, many of the complaints are bogus and aren't worth responding to. Seriously.

For me, I feel like I don't have to defend anything, particularly when he has been in office for only 3 weeks!

Me too because if this stimulus package has a positive effect, the Republicans won't be able to claim that they assisted in such positive effect, and the Democrats can hopefully win more seats in Congress.

This is a lie on your part. I already corrected you on this in another thread. He indeed had a teleprompter.
