Sen. Harkin: 'We need the Fairness Doctrine back'
Just this morning, I reported that Sen. Debbie Stabenow has backed off on the idea of holding hearings for radio accountability, something she discussed last week with liberal radio host Bill Press (leading to an uproar on conservative talk radio over the Fairness Doctrine).
Well today, Sen. Tom Harkin appeared on Press's show and came out in favor of the Fairness Doctrine.
BILL PRESS: And, thanks for your leadership, thanks for your good work, it's great to have you there Senator. And, great to have you on the show. Appreciate it.

SENATOR TOM HARKIN (D-IA): Well, anytime just let me know Bill. I love being with you, and thanks again for all you do to get the truth and the facts out there. By the way, I read your Op-Ed in the Washington Post the other day. I ripped it out, I took it into my office and said 'there you go, we gotta get the Fairness Doctrine back in law again.'

BILL PRESS: Alright, well good for you. You know, we gotta work on that, because they are just shutting down progressive talk from one city after another. All we want is, you know, some balance on the airwaves, that's all. You know, we're not going to take any of the conservative voices off the airwaves, but just make sure that there are a few progressives and liberals out there, right?

SENATOR TOM HARKIN (D-IA): Exactly, and that's why we need the fair -- that's why we need the Fairness Doctrine back.
As predicted by prominent talk show hosts, the Democrats are engaging in rhetoric prior to initiating their attempt to silence their biggest opposition. I believe that the socialists who make up the majority of the Democratic Party are on a path to lock down total power by any means necessary including massive govt spending (stimulus), elimination of political enemies (see above), and socialized healthcare initiatives through electronic databases owned and operated by the federal government, among other things yet to be seen.

Once again, the left shows it's anti-constitutional stripes with this abhorrent nonsense.

Educating the American people is the only course of action to the conservative movement.

This is nothing fair about the democrat fairness doctrine plan, they just want to shut the competition up as much as possible. They do not make that many liberal talk radio shows because people can get the same **** from the tv and newspaper, that is why conservative shows dominate the radio. NBC,ABC,CBS,BBC, MSNBC and other liberal networks are not going to give you some newstory about the mass kidnappings in Laredo Texas, how some insane school officials are going to let little billy go to school dressed as a little girl.

If this applied to television news and shows where they try to espouse some political beliefs then this could actually be called the fairness doctrine. For example they post a death count of the troops in Iraq, then they would have to post the death count of enemy combatants and terrorist,if they whine about water boarding and how it doesn't get information then they would have to present stories where water boarding did give them information. If some tv show wanted to make fun of republicans then they would have to do the same thing about democrats.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Of course. Do you REALLY think that liberals believe in "free speech"?

Don't forget printed media. And eventually they may pursue your personal blog site.

So now Obama's biggest opposition is the Post?

    He was kidding.

And nobody above the age of 12 was dumb enough to take him seriously.

STUPID! If anyone wanted left wing talk shows then they would be available. Think now, if I was an investor and someone had a left wing talk show that millions were starving to listen to I and YOU would back the show. It's that simple so go ahead and force your left wing trash down our throats but first come remove the channel selectors from our radios.
    It's nothing more than X's and O's.
