You must not listen to NPR much.

Re: Sen. Harkin: 'We need the Fairness Doctrine back'

I wonder if there should be a "fairness doctrine" applied to Hollywood. After all, what shapes public opinion more than popular culture?

I wonder if universities should be required to hire equal numbers of liberal and conservative professors. After all, isn't a university be one of the places where "balance" is MOST necessary?

But no . . . it should only apply to one of the only areas where conservatives dominate. Funny, that.

What "Fairness Doctrine" really means: Shutting down American's free speech.

Why is it that the ONLY one's always clamoring for a Government clampdown on speech seem to be Democrats and Liberals? What do they have to fear about free speech?

Why is it always those who vocally claim their open mindedness, their fairness and argue for transparency are the one's who think such Government "doctrines" make any sense?

Now, don't paint them all with a broad brush.

Many of them are content to stay silent on the issue.

I hope this fails. The Fairness Doctrine was a terrible idea and should not be brought back into the light.
