I pretty much had a feeling that Europe's attitude wasn't going to change with Obama and Biden being in charge. In my opinion NATO's European allies have become shells of their former selves. With an enemy no longer on their doorstep the Europeans rather sit back and let us do the work and then try to swoop in for the fruits of our labor.

Get off your high horses. Vice-presidential trips are not supposed to change foreign policy. Biden staked out the position of the Obama administration a year ago when he walked out of a dinner with Hamid Karzai. He is no toady, and European leaders who get a warm greeting from him probably breathe a sigh of relief.
