Iran's Khatami to run for office

When he was last President of Iran he was fairly useless.
Should he once again be elected President, he will undoubtedly do as little to forward Iran as he did then.
In reality Iran is run by the Theology, no elected person in any elective office will ever be permitted to actually carry out the promises thet give the electorate.
Rather like having a straw man in that office.
    Anyone interested?

As the last leader of Iran he put on a show of being moderate. His play was bought into hook line and sinker by much of the west.

Not such a useless thing especially when he set the groundwork to get Iran to within steps of getting the bomb.

They are within steps of being able to exterminate the Jews in 20 minutes travel time now.

Today the Theocracy that approved of him approves of the much more belligerent lil fuhrer dude...the reason is obvious.

I approve of him. I mean at least he's pro-western, well to some sort of degree.

Khatami or Ahmadinejad? I'd pick the former.

It wasn't a "play." He simply didn't have the power to reform Iran.

An Iranian bomb wouldn't be so frightening if not for the theocracy. It doesn't mean Khatami wasn't a moderate. After all, the United States, United Kingdom, and France all have nuclear weapons and aren't considered extremist countries.

What makes you think that's what Khatami wants to happen?

Ahmadinejad is on thin ice with the theocracy. To the extent that they ever really approved of him, it was only because he is a buffoon who serves as a lightning rod for criticism that would otherwise be directed at them.

Having Khatami (or another reformer) as president would be a welcome change, but in the end it probably wouldn't matter all that much. The power in Iran does not rest with the president.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.
    What?
